Job Responsibilities

The labor market and adult education are the hub for skills supply in Gothenburg.

In your role as a study and career counselor, you are an important cog in strengthening social sustainability in Gothenburg, both today and in the future. Together, we help adult Gothenburg residents find their way in their careers for an inclusive society and promote lifelong learning. With us, you will work in various areas to motivate, inspire, and coach. You will be based at Brogatan and the entrance for applicants, and you will have all of Gothenburg as your workplace.

You will meet Gothenburg residents who need career guidance for their next step in their career process at our meeting place at the administration, and the role as a career counselor also means that you can work at our contracted schools within adult education, within various labor market initiatives, or at one of our Competence Centers. You will have the opportunity to join different teams and assignments in Gothenburg City where we always focus on career guidance. Together, we prepare Gothenburg residents for future work, where studies are often a milestone along the way. The meeting with the Gothenburg resident can take many forms: group career guidance, students in teaching, individually, digitally, or physically.

You will join an organization that continuously works to develop our processes for qualitative meetings. With us, you will have many skilled colleagues and managers who are passionate about making a difference and making Gothenburg a better city for everyone. As a new employee, you will receive support from a mentor and a thorough introduction to get started in the role.

The position is a fixed-term employment until the end of the year.

Qualifications

You who are applying should have a completed study and career counselor degree and have knowledge of working from a coaching approach with a clear norm-creative equal treatment perspective where equal treatment and inclusion are an obvious part of your approach. Additionally, you need to be proficient in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Furthermore, you have good knowledge of Office 365 and are accustomed to working digitally. We consider it an advantage if you have previous experience in the field.

You have a professional and respectful approach to those we serve and are helpful and positive even in stressful situations. You are attentive to others' needs and perspectives, show care, and see challenges as opportunities for learning. Furthermore, you are collaborative, comfortable in social contexts, and stand firm in decisions made, even when messages may be perceived as uncomfortable. You work in a structured manner by planning, prioritizing, and following up on your work to ensure that tasks are carried out efficiently and on time.
