We are now looking for a meticulous and technically curious person for a consulting assignment where you will play a key role in establishing and structuring methods for security testing of a Linux-based system delivered to the customer.

This is a new need in our client's team, where the goal of the assignment is to establish a functioning, documented, and maintainable working method – thereafter the solution will be managed internally. You will be part of a team and work closely with a DevOps team that already has an established testing framework. Your task will be to integrate one of the systems into this framework and adapt security tests to fit the product and customer requirements. The role lies at the intersection of Linux/system, security, and simpler software/automation. It is neither a pure developer role nor a network engineer.

Examples of what you will do:

• Set up a Linux system that corresponds to the installation delivered to the customer
• Run and adapt security tests based on CIS (Center for Internet Security) benchmarks
• Analyze the installation:
  • file system, mount options
  • permissions, services, and configuration
  • identify what needs to be restricted or adjusted from a security perspective
• Adapt and maintain your own test suite:
  • some tests are not applicable → decide, document, and disable
• Integrate the tests into the existing Ansible-based testing framework
• Ensure that test results are presented in a user-friendly and clear manner (not just raw text)
• Complete and anchor a process description:
  • how they run tests
  • how deviations are handled
  • how decisions are made and documented
• Create and follow up on issues in Jira, document in Confluence, and manage code/tests in GitLab
• Contribute to a structured working method where decisions are traceable and well-motivated

Technical environments: Linux (operating system level, not just users), Ansible (the framework – previous experience is a merit but not a requirement), GitLab, Jira, Confluence, physical systems in lab environments

• Has a technical post-secondary education, for example, network technology
• Has very good knowledge of Linux (at the operating system level, not just users)
• Has very good computer skills and understands how computers work
• Has experience in configuring and installing systems
• Has the ability to document and work systematically
• Is fluent in English, Swedish is a merit

Experience in security hardening, CIS benchmarks, or similar, as well as experience with Ansible or other automation is advantageous. Previous work with testing, verification, or system-related roles and practical experience in setting up computers/systems is also advantageous.

You take initiative and are comfortable not knowing everything from the start, and understand that not everything can be changed immediately - some things require decisions and anchoring. Finally, you thrive in an environment with processes, decision-making paths, and collaboration.

This is a consulting assignment for approximately six months, which means that you will initially be employed by Friday. The ambition from the client and our side is that you will eventually be directly employed by the client.
