Make a difference. Every day.

The surgical department is one of the largest operations at the Central Hospital in Kristianstad and consists of outpatient care for vascular, lower and upper gastrointestinal, as well as breast/plastic patients. We also have an oncology treatment unit, Acute Surgical Department, Surgical Department, Urology and Vascular Department, Gynecology Surgery Ear-Nose-Throat, and Acute Orthopedic Department.

We are an acute surgical care department with varied and eventful days, where variation is a natural part of the work. Here, patients with trauma and acute surgical conditions such as abdominal pain of unclear origin, ileus, appendicitis, gallbladder and pancreatic diseases, bleeding, and infections are cared for. The department offers the opportunity for continuous monitoring, which creates good conditions for a safe and professional handling of our more care-intensive patients. You will work with both pre- and postoperative care in a dynamic environment where no day is the same. With us, you will have the opportunity to develop a broad surgical competence in close collaboration with doctors and other professionals, and you will become part of an engaged team where patient focus, collaboration, and professionalism are at the center.

To provide nurses with the best possible conditions, there are supportive functions such as a department pharmacist, responsible for medication management and replenishment, as well as a coordinator during weekdays who coordinates incoming calls and books transports. We also have a SVU coordinator during the day who contributes to safe and patient-secure discharges in collaboration with the municipality. We strive for a good working environment and a well-functioning teamwork where the right competence is used in the right way. Close collaboration with other units ensures that care is always adapted to the patient's needs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

With us, you will be a great asset aimed at strengthening and further developing nurses in their professional roles. Your work involves ensuring competence development among colleagues through workshops, training days, clinical supervision in care situations, and structured reflection. You will be part of the management's network with other educational nurses and have close cooperation with clinical teachers, educational coordinators, and department managers.

- It is a unique opportunity to be a key person in the development of colleagues and to contribute to their increased competence. It is incredibly satisfying to be involved in building up the knowledge of the care staff and to see the positive change you create both for the individual and for the entire work environment, says Betty, who has been an educational nurse in the department.

To maintain your competence as a nurse and have a close connection to the operations, you will work both with education and clinical tasks. The position is divided so that you work 50% as an educational nurse and 50% with clinical tasks.

In your clinical work, you will work with acute care, which involves assessment, monitoring, and management of patients with acute surgical conditions. The work includes, in addition to regular nursing tasks, early identification of deterioration, pain relief at various levels, fluid treatment, management of various inputs and outputs, as well as nursing measures based on the patient's current needs, but also with preoperative preparations, postoperative care, and much more exciting tasks. We have well-established routines and always strive to provide patients with the best possible care.

The position involves rotational work during the day and evening. There are also opportunities to work nights once you are comfortable in the role. Weekend work is included, two out of five weekends. The department applies a wish schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with the authority to operate within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe's level scale are required. Furthermore, you have several years of professional experience as a nurse, and we see it as an advantage if you are specialized in surgery. It is also meritorious if you have supervisor training and experience in planning, leading, and following up on education.

To succeed in the role, we see that you have a pedagogical approach and a genuine interest in development. As a person, you are engaged and have a strong drive. Furthermore, you have good communication skills and value and contribute to a well-functioning collaboration. Since the days are very eventful, you need to be able to handle stressful situations. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

In this recruitment, we apply ongoing selection. Welcome with your application!
