Nurse for Orthopedics in Arvika and Karlstad

The orthopedic operations in Arvika and Karlstad are part of the inpatient care area with a catchment area for all of Värmland.

We now need to strengthen our team with more nurses.

Your workplace

With us, you will work alternately on wards 3 and 4, providing you with a varied work environment. During the day and on weekends, we have both physiotherapists and occupational therapists on the ward working closely with other professionals. We are also a clinical education ward (KUA) for nursing students and have a high presence of nursing students. The most important thing for us is good teamwork, along with a positive atmosphere and a good working environment. On wards 3 and 4, we provide tailored guidance and onboarding based on competence and development needs.

As a newly hired nurse, you will be led by a clinic-bound introduction group consisting of nurses and nursing assistants with extensive experience who will go through various responsibilities during the onboarding period. You will create your own preferred schedule for seven weeks at a time.

The care ward has a close collaboration with the day activities at the orthopedic clinic and the preoperative operations at the surgical center. Many of our employees have rotation positions that involve alternating work between the care ward and the orthopedic clinic or surgical center. Since autumn 2023, the orthopedic emergency department is staffed during the day in collaboration with the emergency clinic, providing a unique opportunity for both experience and training for those who wish.

We want you to grow within the team. With individual competence development and opportunities for both internal and external training, we ensure that this is possible. We have internal training in orthopedics, and we want to give our employees administrative time to develop both themselves and the department in one of our responsibility groups.

Your tasks

As a nurse with us, you will be responsible for common nursing tasks such as medication management, rounds, preoperative and postoperative care. We work with both acute and planned orthopedics with patients of various ages and care needs. We also have 1 - 2 places dedicated to eye patients and an emergency reception for this patient group, for which you will receive internal training.

Wards 3 and 4 offer stimulating tasks with good opportunities for competence development. We view personal engagement and the willingness to learn new things positively, and together we continue to develop orthopedics in Värmland. We believe that good and patient-safe care is built on everyone's voice and a fundamental psychological safety in the workplace. Together, our goal is to provide each individual patient with the best care and thus the opportunity to regain their previous abilities as much as possible.

Your knowledge and skills

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. Experience from a care ward is meritorious in itself but not a requirement. As a clinic, we have also had great success and very good experiences from recruiting newly graduated nurses.

As a person, you are creative in that you like to contribute your own and new ideas and perspectives to develop working methods and processes. You are flexible and easily adapt to different situations while communicating clearly with others. You enjoy collaborating with both patients and colleagues.
