Assistant Nurse to the Orthopedic Department

The orthopedic department is part of the orthopedic area at Östersund Hospital. The department is divided into acute, elective, and geriatric sections. Within the sections, we work in cross-functional team constellations. You will work with nurses, assistant nurses, doctors, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists. Connected to the department are also pharmacists, staffing assistants, and nurses with leadership assignments as nurse leaders.
In the section, patients with orthopedic injuries such as hip fractures, vertebral compression fractures, amputations, and those over 75 years with at least two underlying diseases are cared for.
We care for our patients through a holistic and person-centered approach. The section consists of 10 care places and one overflow place, divided into two teams. The section consists of two doctors, two nurses, and four assistant nurses.
Right now, the orthopedic geriatric section is looking for you as an assistant nurse with an interest in elderly patients.
What we can offer you
- Four weeks of onboarding
- Participation in improvement work and quality development related to patient safety and working environment
- Internal training in orthopedics, both theoretical and practical in the form of simulation exercises via KTC
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Basic nursing care
- Pre- and post-operative care
- Wound dressings and wound care, especially after surgeries
- Daily rehabilitation, nursing assessments, and follow-ups in close collaboration with physiotherapists and occupational therapists
- Daily documentation and record-keeping
- Risk assessments and care prevention
