The orthopedic department is part of the Orthopedics area at Östersund Hospital.

The department is divided into acute, elective, and geriatric sections. Within the sections, we work in cross-functional team constellations. You will work with nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists. Connected to the sections are also a pharmacist, staffing assistant, and nurses with leadership assignments as lead nurses.

We are currently looking for a nurse for the geriatric section of the orthopedic department.

In the section, patients with orthopedic injuries such as hip fractures, vertebral compression, amputations, and those over 75 years with at least 2 underlying diseases are cared for.

The section consists of 10 care places and one overflow place, divided into two teams with 5 care places each. The section is staffed by two doctors, two nurses, and four nursing assistants.

We care for our patients through a holistic and person-centered approach.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pre- and post-operative care
  • Pain relief and medication management
  • Dressing changes and difficult care especially after surgeries
  • Rehabilitation support where the nurse collaborates with physiotherapists and occupational therapists
  • Nursing assessments and follow-ups in close collaboration with doctors and other professionals in the team
  • National assessments and care prevention
  • Documentation and record-keeping
  • Participation in improvement work and quality development related to patient safety and work environment
