Emergency and Ambulance Care Sector

We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!

Our Operations

The emergency care sector constitutes a central and extensive part of healthcare. Our area of operation consists of two sections; emergency care and ambulance care. The emergency care section consists of the emergency department. Our goal is to provide good, appropriate, high-quality, specialist-driven emergency care for all patients regardless of the reason for seeking care. We strive to be a health-promoting workplace with good leadership and flexible working methods, and therefore continuously work with education and development. With us, you have close access to specialist knowledge, research, education, and about 40 engaged emergency physician colleagues.

Our University Hospital is a level 1 trauma center. The adult emergency department sees approximately 52,000 patients annually, with a lower age limit of 15 years, but is also responsible for younger children with potentially life-threatening conditions.

Within the area of operation, we conduct research, basic and specialist training for nurses and doctors at all stages of their careers. We engage in multiprofessional and innovative development with national and international partners, as well as quality and patient safety work with a focus on proactive operational development. We are now connected to the Swedish Emergency Care Register (SVAR) and have a strong focus on competence development in point-of-care ultrasound.

Your Mission

We offer an educational position according to the National Board of Health and Welfare's description of goals for emergency care. We were approved in the SPUR review in 2023. The ST position is set up in consultation with the section chief, study director, and supervisor. Supervision is provided according to the National Board of Health and Welfare's guidelines by trained supervising doctors, and feedback is given after the specialist collegium.

Work in emergency care takes place around the clock, and you will therefore have varying working hours. As an employee at a university hospital, participation in education and supervision is included. The duties include clinical work in the emergency department and pediatric surgery/orthopedics, as we also staff the pediatric emergency surgery/orthopedics.

Your Qualifications

You are a licensed physician with an interest in and experience of emergency care. You have a strong interest in education and medical development work within the area of operation.

Your Competence

We are looking for an engaged and driven colleague with the ability to inspire change and development. You work goal- and result-oriented and drive your work in a structured manner by planning, organizing, and prioritizing effectively within given time frames. With a quality-conscious approach, you are meticulous and strive to achieve set goals and quality standards. You are creative and innovative, finding new approaches that contribute to the development of the organization. You are clear, attentive, and humble in your communication, keeping the patient in focus and have the ability to pedagogically adapt your message based on the recipient's conditions, even in clinical assessments and decisions where you have support from a supervisor or senior colleague. You take responsibility for your work and want to actively contribute to the common development of emergency care. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

We Offer

The position is a permanent full-time employment or according to agreement. Salary and start date according to agreement.
