Technical Project Manager at Boliden Zinkgruvan

Boliden Zinkgruvan is a workplace with a strong sense of community and close collaboration between various competencies.

We are running a large number of investment projects and are in need of two additional technical project managers for our project office.

Zinkgruvan is more than just a mine. It has a complete industrial area with a factory, energy systems, water treatment, and infrastructure. Everything is located in one place, and production runs around the clock. This makes the projects both technically complex and directly critical to the operations.

– “We always have many projects running simultaneously. They can involve both large investments and smaller technical measures that are crucial for operations,” says Erik Fredriksson, project office manager at Zinkgruvan.

Projects Close to Production

The project office is the hub for many of Zinkgruvan's investments. Here, projects are planned, managed, and followed up – from early needs to completed solutions. The project managers work closely with the operations and have daily contact with both internal functions and external suppliers.

The projects span several technical areas, such as energy, electricity, construction, facilities, and other production-critical infrastructure. The two new roles will primarily work on above-ground projects, directly connected to the factory and facilities in the area. This implies a practical and present working style, where the project manager is often out in the operations.

– “You don’t just sit in an office here. The projects are all around us, and it’s close to the operations you work in,” Erik continues.

The scope of the projects varies greatly. Regardless of size, the project manager has a clear overall responsibility and leads the work throughout the entire process, including responsibility for follow-up, finances, and decision-making related to investments.

Examples of Responsibilities:

• Lead technical investment projects above ground – from identified needs to completed facilities.
• Receive and interpret project orders from the operations and create structure in the early stages of the project.
• Plan, drive, and follow up projects with responsibility for time, cost, content, and quality.
• Coordinate internal functions such as production, maintenance, electricity, energy, and business development.
• Procure and lead external consultants and suppliers through the various phases of the project.
• Actively work out in the operations and ensure that solutions work in practice.
• Prepare decision-making materials, cost estimates, and investment requests for the steering group.
• Follow up on project developments, manage deviations, and drive actions as needed.
• Participate in and lead steering group meetings and report project status clearly.

The work is conducted according to a common project model within Boliden, adapted for industrial and mining operations. This creates structure, but also room for personal responsibility and decision-making.

To thrive in this role, you enjoy working closely with operations. You take responsibility, drive issues forward, and build trust in collaboration with various professional roles. You are structured yet pragmatic, and understand what is required to drive projects in an ongoing industry.

You are communicative, confident in making decisions and following up, while also having a humble attitude and the ability to listen to the needs of the operations. Here, we value individuals who take overall responsibility and make things happen.

We also expect you to have:

• Technical university education, such as a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, construction, facilities, or equivalent.
• Experience working in project form within industry, production, or technical operations.
• Experience driving projects with responsibility for time, cost, and content.
• Good ability to communicate in Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Driver's license (B).
