About Environment and Community Building

The Environment and Community Building consists of two units; the Environmental and Building Unit, and the Planning and Development Unit. In the Environmental and Building Unit, we are a driven team of about 30 employees who, together with the entire sector for Environment and Community Building, face an exciting future. We work to promote sustainable development and a good built environment for our citizens and businesses. We actively work on our improvement efforts and to develop our processes to be as legally secure, simple, and clear as possible for those we serve.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Environmental Inspector, you will be part of a team that works with advice, supervision, and processing of environmentally hazardous activities. Other tasks and areas of work may also become relevant, such as small sewage systems, waste, and more, and can be adapted based on your experiences and competencies. You plan and structure your own workday and manage your cases both independently and in collaboration with colleagues. The role includes contributing to the development of working methods and routines and taking responsibility for strategic planning and development within your areas of work. You conduct inspections and handle incoming cases such as notifications, complaints, and referrals.

In your work, you make objective and factual assessments, set clear requirements, and take responsibility for decisions made. The work involves exercising authority where you independently assess and make decisions in individual cases. As an Environmental Inspector, you also work with service and advice from a customer perspective towards both external and internal contacts, such as municipal residents and other authorities. Tasks and responsibilities may vary depending on the applicant's profile, the needs of the operation, and resource allocation.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a university degree in environmental and health protection or other education that the employer deems equivalent. It is advantageous if you have previously worked with supervision according to the Environmental Code within public operations. Other relevant experience in the field, or from professions that involve a lot of contact with people, is also considered a plus.

You are structured and quality-conscious and have a knack for expressing yourself well in both speech and writing. You have the ability to see development opportunities, think creatively, and possess good IT skills as well as experience with digital case management. You are a good administrator who enjoys collaborating. The tasks involve many internal and external contacts, which is why we are looking for someone with good social skills. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

As an Environmental Inspector, it is important that you are responsible, structured, and meticulous, and have the ability to quickly adapt yourself and your working methods to new conditions. In the role, you are expected to plan and carry out tasks independently and express yourself clearly and understandably in Swedish, both orally and in writing. Since the work involves supervision, it is important that you can be secure and stable even in pressured situations. You have the ability to prioritize service and adapt your approach to create trustworthy relationships, as well as balance the authority exercise and the advisory role.
