Research Position in Prostate Cancer

The Department of Clinical Sciences is one of six departments at the Sahlgrenska Academy at Gothenburg University. The department conducts research and education that focuses on human health and quality of life. We represent 16 different subject areas (divisions) and are divided into four sections. Through enriching collaboration with healthcare and Sahlgrenska University Hospital, we have developed joint projects and meeting places that benefit both care and research.
The Department of Clinical Sciences, Division of Urology at Sahlgrenska Academy, is seeking a researcher focused on prostate cancer. The Division of Urology conducts research on urological cancers, with a particular focus on prostate cancer, stone disease, and reconstructive surgery.
The current research group has conducted world-class research in prostate cancer screening for over 30 years, mainly based on two large randomized studies, one of which is still ongoing (G2). For several years, extensive registry-based research has also been conducted in the field of prostate cancer, currently focusing on regionally organized prostate cancer testing (OPT), which has so far been offered to approximately 350,000 Swedish men.
Job Responsibilities
The job responsibilities mainly consist of independent research in prostate cancer as well as participation in seminars for researchers and doctoral students. The work involves independent processing, editing, and analysis of large datasets, including registry data, as well as interpretation of research results. The responsibilities also include writing scientific articles and collaborating with other researchers within and outside the research group.
Qualifications
A PhD in epidemiology or a related field and research experience in epidemiology are required for the position. Furthermore, good knowledge of prostate cancer disease, documented practical experience in independent editing and analysis of large datasets, and a very good ability to communicate in spoken and written English are required.
In the assessment of applicants, special emphasis will be placed on scientific independence and analytical ability, experience in prostate cancer research, experience in registry-based research, and work with large epidemiological datasets, as well as the ability to collaborate within the research group and with external partners.

The position is a fixed-term employment for 6 months, full-time (100%), located at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Division of Urology. Start date 2026-05-01
