About the Eye Department

With over 300 employees, we are one of Sweden's largest Eye Departments. We are a research-intensive organization at the forefront of research and development. The main operations are located at Mölndal Hospital, but Eye Care is also provided at Drottning Silvia's Children's Hospital, the clinic in Frölunda, the clinic in Kungälv, at Sahlgrenska Hospital, and in 2024 we will also provide eye care at Högsbo Hospital.

Our operations are divided into 14 processes based on different subspecialties, both within medicine and surgery. In the processes, there are employees from various professional categories such as ophthalmic nurses, nurses, nursing assistants, medical secretaries, optometrists, orthoptists, administrators, doctors, coordinators, and photographers.

We are currently looking for

You who are an ophthalmic nurse or a nurse interested in working in an Eye Surgery Clinic and our preoperative clinic. Previous experience in eye care is an advantage.

Eye Surgery Clinic

At the Eye Surgery Clinic in Mölndal, you will meet driven and engaged colleagues. We place great emphasis on care and always work based on the patients' conditions and with great respect for our patients. At the clinic, we focus on teamwork and work for high patient safety, good care, and continuously improved care quality. We work with patients who have diseases in the anterior parts of the eye that can be treated surgically within our processes: cornea, cataract, glaucoma, and oculoplastic surgery.

About the position and what we can offer you

As an ophthalmic nurse/nurse, you will work in a cross-professional manner with all different professional categories. You will have a variety of tasks, including independent nursing consultations as well as preparations for doctor consultations, and work in our eye emergency department. We also work in 1177.se with patient cases that we handle. You will also be scheduled in our preoperative department where we take care of the patient and prepare for surgery as well as provide postoperative care. The work is scheduled Monday to Friday, during the day. When you are in the eye emergency department, you may sometimes work until 7:00 PM.

When you start with us, you will receive an introduction to feel as secure as possible in your role. We also offer you a mentor who will support you in your introduction and work. Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who are a trained ophthalmic nurse or nurse with an interest in eye care. You should be good at collaborating, have a positive attitude, and consider good communication important, whether it concerns patients or colleagues. It is important that you are good at communicating and providing clear information. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability when filling the position.

In the event of recruitment of nurses/doctors with foreign qualifications/specialist certificates, the current position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish qualifications/specialist certificates.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introduction program. The Clinical Foundation Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training in your profession at the Simulator Center. In addition, it also includes service in at least two different departments to broaden your competence.
