Job Description

SiS Youth Home Johannisberg is a high-security institution beautifully located next to the Kalix River in the quiet residential area of Grytnäs. The institution is in a development and expansion phase where work is ongoing to increase staffing and security. Our target group in Kalix is boys aged 16 - 21 placed according to the Law on Secure Youth Care and the Law on Care of Young People. All work is permeated by our guiding principles of Respect, Care, and Clarity. As a new employee with us, you will receive a thorough introduction and guidance from an experienced colleague, basic training, and professional development in areas such as security, unauthorized influence, conflict management, CPR, and more.

As a treatment assistant, you will work in a team on the department with competent colleagues who are waiting for you to become part of the team. Daily tasks include building trusting relationships and motivating our youth to adopt new and less risky ways of living. You play an important role in the stability of our youth and form the basis of daily life with schooling, activities, cooking, and cleaning. As a treatment assistant, you also contribute to maintaining security in the institution according to our guidelines and routines.

Working hours are scheduled according to a rotating schedule covering days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has the ability to build trusting relationships with our youth. You have a positive view of people, and your motivation is to work with young people. You share SiS's values of being a place for change. As a person, you relate to others in a responsive and flexible manner while being able to set boundaries and follow decisions made. You are secure, stable, and able to maintain a professional demeanor even in pressured situations. You work well with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.

You should also have:

• A minimum of 2 years of post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.
• Good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written
• Good physical ability

*Exceptions to the requirement for at least a two-year post-secondary education may be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468). A high school diploma along with experience working with people in vulnerable life situations is required for exceptions to be made. Please attach your high school diploma and/or certificate of post-secondary education to your application. High school diplomas/certificates issued in another country must be translated and validated in Sweden through the University and Higher Education Council (UHR).

Meritorious:

• Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, such as in correctional services, psychiatry, care and support, or equivalent
• Driving license B

Employment

The positions are permanent full-time employment and start with a 6-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.
