Make a Difference. Every Day.

Do you want to be part of a dedicated team where no day is the same? At the surgery and urology department in Ystad, you will work in a dynamic environment with varied tasks where you make a real difference for patients every day. Are you ready for the next step in your career? Then we would love to have you on our team! Ystad Hospital is known as the small hospital where decision-making paths are short, and you as an employee are seen and heard.

The surgery and urology department in Ystad works with both acute and planned surgical, urological, and gynecological care. We are currently looking for staff to build our team for our elective surgical flow, where we have both inpatient and day care places. We are two unit managers who jointly are responsible for running the department in close leadership together with almost 70 employees. Here, there is broad expertise, a passionate commitment, and a great collaboration.

We are in a creative startup phase where you will have the opportunity to participate in building a module within surgical care. The planned part of the operation is characterized by fast flows and advanced logistics, where your engagement and ideas will be important in the development of routines, processes, and working methods. With us, you will have the opportunity to influence, develop professionally, and contribute to effective and patient-safe care flows. We have started a long-term journey of working according to the Magnet Model, a framework based on years of research on how we can provide care of the highest quality, strengthen our interprofessional teamwork, and give our employees clear professional development. As part of this, we are working to implement the Competence and Service Model, a development program for nurses with clear career paths and a focus on education and skill development.

In our department, we strive to work person-centered and create conditions for continuity-driven care. We also work with the concept of safe teams, which means continuity in the schedule over a shorter period where collaboration between colleagues can be strengthened. The department also has specialist nurses with advanced responsibilities for care, education, and operational development. The specialist nurse works partly outside the regular care team to enable overall responsibility for the patients cared for in the department, as well as to support the responsible team and less experienced colleagues. The department also consists of clinical training rooms as we have chosen to focus on the development of students in their upcoming profession.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Your tasks include, among other things, patient admissions, diagnosis-related actions both in nursing and medicine, pre- and post-operative care, basic nursing, and a wide range of medical technical tasks. Common diagnoses in the department are within the surgical area such as ulcers, pancreatitis, cholecystitis, ileus, appendicitis, diverticulitis, and various forms of cancer. In urology, urosepsis, hematuria, and prostate and bladder cancer are primarily present. Gynecology mainly consists of cancer patients.

For you who are a newly graduated nurse, we have a unique introduction concept where we offer the opportunity to, after the usual introduction, also spend a longer period working alongside another new nurse. This means that during your first weeks, you will be responsible for fewer patients while always having more experienced colleagues to consult. Newly hired nurses are also given introduction days with a specialist nurse for a review of core competencies, through reflection and discussion, as well as a review of routines and working methods. There are also good opportunities to shadow other units within our area of operation, to gain a good overview and understanding of patient flow.

For you who are an experienced nurse, we will together develop an individual introduction plan. You, together with your colleagues, will be responsible for further developing our operations and will have time and opportunity for skill development. We also encourage further education. Additionally, you will be offered the opportunity to take a mentor training course and deepen your knowledge in your clinical competence area, as well as the chance to drive nursing development and patient safety work in the unit. Mentorship is offered to all new hires through scheduled mentor meetings as part of ensuring new employees in their professional role and in their work in the department.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with the authority to work within Swedish healthcare. Additionally, you have language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s level scale. Previous work with surgical or urological patients is an advantage.

As a person, you have a positive attitude, good collaboration skills, and a good approach. You also have the drive and willingness to be involved in the ongoing improvement and quality work of the organization. It is important for us that you have a clear commitment to your profession, an empathetic approach, and the ability to actively contribute to our good care quality and cheerful atmosphere in the work team. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

In this recruitment, we apply ongoing selection. We warmly welcome your application today!
