Our Operations

We are looking for a temporary meal assistant for Torshälls Preschool in Hemmesta who, together with our chef, serves a fantastic meal for our children and educators.

The preschool is one of three preschools in our preschool area Värmdölandet 2. The preschool has 7 departments and 104 children, and Värmdö language preschool is integrated into the preschool's premises.

We follow Värmdö Municipality's guidelines and work to adapt menus and routines to ensure that meals are healthy and sustainable in the long term. This includes a greater proportion of plant-based foods, increased use of environmentally certified ingredients, and active measures to reduce food waste.

It is essential that everyone is involved in this important journey to protect health and the environment and reduce environmental impact. This transition requires effort and commitment from all parties involved. Being open to thinking anew, approaching new dishes and flavors with curiosity and pride, and contributing to reducing food waste are examples of how we can help each other and be active in the work.

We have a common menu for our three preschools and serve food in a buffet style, which is a way to engage the children; they serve themselves from what they want to eat, and the educators and kitchen staff are there to support and inspire them to try new things. Every day we serve a large seasonal salad buffet, 10-17 varieties, so that everyone has the opportunity to find something they like.

Your Mission

The role of the meal assistant means that you, with the support of our chef, cook meals from scratch. You will, with the chef's support, perform and be responsible for all kitchen tasks, including recording food waste, follow-up, hygiene, and self-control. You play an important role in the preschool's work and are part of a team where everyone contributes to the final result. The work involves a lot of customer contact; you meet over 100 guests every day, can communicate the menu's contents, and are positive about interacting with both children and adults. You can work with and have knowledge of routines and digital communication in kitchen self-control programs, as well as have an economic mindset regarding large-scale catering.

We are looking for someone who

Is passionate about meal pedagogy and service and wants all children and educators to look forward to meals and leave the table satisfied. You have extensive experience in cooking in large-scale catering, training in allergy diets, knowledge of vegetarian cooking, and experience in baking bread in large-scale catering. If you also have experience working in preschools/schools where the food is focused on organic/vegetarian options, that is a merit. You have completed training in food hygiene in 2025 and have basic knowledge of food hygiene.

You find it easy to collaborate, can take initiative, and can work at a fast pace. You have the ability to provide information and receive feedback from children, guardians, and other staff. Good communication and service are key principles in our organization. As a person, you are positive and flexible.

You need to be able to read and write in Swedish. We place great importance on social skills and personal suitability.

For this position, presenting a valid extract from the police's criminal record is a prerequisite for employment.

The employment is a temporary position of about 80%.
