At the southernmost part of Dalarna lies Avesta. Avesta is an old industrial town with drive and optimism for the future. In Avesta, you will find a mix of nature and culture with good communications to both the city and the mountains.

Avesta Hospital, inaugurated in 1922, consists of an internal medicine and geriatric clinic. The hospital has a catchment area of approximately 40,000 and is a local hospital with an emergency department open 24/7. A large part of the work is located in the emergency department where you work independently with active on-call support, during daytime and evening hours as well as weekends.

BT is a clinical introduction position and a mandatory part of the new specialist training. In Region Dalarna, a cohesive fixed-term employment is offered with the aim of also helping to find our future ST doctors and specialist colleagues. The emergency care part is done at Avesta Hospital with exchange weeks in Falun. In psychiatry, inpatient care is conducted in Säter and Falun, and outpatient care in Avesta. The primary care placement will be at one of the health centers in southern Dalarna.

BT doctor for Avesta - our future specialist Job Responsibilities

As we are looking for someone who wants to become our future specialist, we hope that you have an interest in a more long-term collaboration and a desire to contribute to the development of the operations together with us in Region Dalarna.

The position may often involve multiple work locations and commuting by car may be required. Start in the autumn of 2026.

The position includes, in addition to a solid introduction, clinical work under supervision in general medicine, emergency care, psychiatry, and possibly an additional clinical placement. A total of 12 months of service. The service plans for the blocks will be designed somewhat differently depending on the included clinical placements and work locations within Region Dalarna.

The work mainly consists of clinical tasks with continuous supervision and recurring structured competence assessments. Additionally, there will be recurring training sessions aimed at achieving approved basic competence according to SoS regulations and the goal description for BT.

We are looking for someone who has obtained Swedish medical licensure and has not undergone Swedish AT.

The positions require:

• Swedish personal identification number
• Attached high school diploma
• Good oral and written communication skills in Swedish, which will also be assessed in the selection process.
• Extract from the criminal record. For those requesting an extract from a country other than Sweden, the extract must be translated into Swedish or English.
• Driving license B
• Clinical experience from Swedish healthcare with good references is a requirement;
