Our Operations

The Rheumatology Section at Uppsala University Hospital offers a residency position in rheumatology. Our operations include a large outpatient service with approximately 10,000 doctor visits per year, a day care unit for infusion treatments and outpatient investigations, as well as inpatient care. The rheumatology department has 7 inpatient beds for the investigation and treatment of systemic diseases. We are a close-knit group of doctors who discuss difficult cases together during rounds attended by the entire team. We also have good collaboration including regular rounds with other specialties, such as pulmonology, which is stimulating and contributes to better patient care. National and regional care accounts for about 30% of inpatient care, which means important and stimulating contact with colleagues in our region.

Active research is conducted in several different projects and we participate in a number of drug trials. Currently, we have 12 specialists and 7 residents within the department. Rheumatology is well consolidated within the hospital. We are responsible for the rheumatology education during term 6 of the medical program.

Your Qualifications

You who are applying are a licensed physician (including completed AT or BT) with an interest in rheumatology. Previous experience in rheumatology is an advantage, but experience in related specialties within internal medicine is also valuable. An interest in research and education is likewise a plus.

In addition to formal qualifications, we place great emphasis on personal suitability and good collaboration skills with colleagues and all other staff.
