Job Description
As an assistant nurse in department 20, you will perform standard assistant nurse tasks within acute care. Patient work is conducted in care teams with a nurse and assistant nurses responsible for about 7 patients. The team, besides the nurse/assistant nurse, consists of other professionals such as doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and social workers. Other support functions available during weekdays are care coordinators and coordinators. During the day and evening, there are three care teams, and at night, one team is responsible for the entire department. The daily routine in department 20 is very varied with a wide range of diagnoses and patient clientele. The pace of work is also variable. These variations in work mean that as an assistant nurse, you must be flexible and able to adapt to the situations you face. This allows you to gain experience and breadth early on. The unique competence of the Infection Clinic includes caring for diseases that require isolation and the application of special hygiene routines to prevent infection to/from patients and healthcare staff.
Your tasks will include responsibility for the basic care that patients need, venipuncture, care of urinary catheters, wound care with or without drainage of various kinds, handling Bladder Scan, taking ECGs, and all other nursing work that falls within the scope of acute care.
Work Group
The Infection Clinic is a regional clinic with about 160 employees. In department 20, we have a work group with both experienced and relatively new employees. Here, it is important that we take responsibility for the work together and that we are each other's work environment. As an employee at the Infection Clinic, you will be included in the community and become an obvious part of the team. We believe we have an environment where everyone is constantly learning new things and that it is very important to have a learning and open climate where you always dare to ask questions. We have a clear structure for continuous development and information dissemination in the form of internal and external lectures, weekly department meetings, weekly newsletters, and through collaboration with the infection department at the University Hospital.
About You
Basic requirements for employment as an assistant nurse:
- Approved high school education of at least 2250 points, Health and Care Program or equivalent.
- For adult education, approved high school education equivalent to at least 1400 points within Health and Care education or equivalent.
- Grade criteria: At least grade E in all courses (approved).
It is desirable to have a diploma from certified training via the Health and Care College, applicable to both youth and adult education.
Experience in acute care is preferred. Experience in infectious disease care is also highly meritorious.
Utilizes knowledge, skills, and abilities in interactions during patient meetings or care situations. Since you work in constant dialogue with patients and colleagues, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
