About Us

The Anesthesia Clinic at Nyköping Hospital is a dynamic workplace with a young and inquisitive team of doctors. The city has a rich history and a scenic location by the sea. The hospital has an operating department with 9 rooms and performs approximately 5000 anesthetics annually. The surgical clinics include surgery/urology, orthopedics, women's clinic including maternity services, and ENT. Furthermore, anesthetics are performed for ECT and dental patients, and we are responsible for central access for the anesthesia clinic, including subcutaneous venous ports. The intensive care unit has 6 beds equipped with modern technology and capacity for category 2 care. Nyköping Hospital has about 160 beds and is characterized by easy and good collaboration as well as high efficiency and quality.

A comprehensive renovation and new construction of the hospital is underway, where a new operating department was inaugurated a year ago, the ICU moved into newly renovated premises in March 2024, and the reconstruction of a new perioperative department is ongoing. We are looking for more staff to meet future challenges and hope you want to be part of our team.

Today we are nine senior physicians, five specialists, and eight resident doctors. As a resident doctor, you will be an important part of the clinic from day one and represent the future staffing. At our clinic, you will receive a broad basic education in the field along with guidance from experienced specialists. Parts of the training are conducted as side service at category 1 hospitals and anesthesia and intensive care within a specialty at another hospital.

There is a resident training director at the clinic, and the resident doctors follow an individual training program based on the National Board of Health and Welfare's goal description for anesthesia and intensive care. The introduction period is 6 months, during which you will learn to induce and awaken patients in the operating room together with anesthesia nurses and then be introduced to work in the ICU. You will be introduced to on-call duties under supervision.

Your Responsibilities

You will have a varied job alternating between the operating room and ICU, which includes inducing, awakening, anesthetizing, relieving pain, and resolving acute situations throughout the hospital. On-call duties are included in the employment.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed physician. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
