About the position

The function of Perioperative Medicine and Intensive Care (PMI) in Huddinge conducts highly specialized anesthesia and surgical operations as well as pre- and postoperative care within two medical units. The operation is broad and extensive and organized into several sections: Emergency, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Transplantation, Urology, ENT, Outpatient Surgery, and Upper Abdomen. In several of these areas, we perform national assignments.

The position is a permanent employment as an operating nurse with a mandate as a care leader. In the role of care leader, you are responsible for operationally leading and planning the daily surgical operations within emergency surgery. The assignment involves coordinating all emergency teams in the operating rooms and managing patient flows within gynecology, obstetrics, urology, transplantation, and upper abdomen. The work is carried out in close collaboration with nursing managers and other care leaders. Every third week you work as a care leader in the emergency team and the remaining time in clinical work.

We work in newly built and bright premises with modern equipment and the latest technology. The operation is at the forefront of robotic surgery and we operate patients within most patient flows, with a clear focus on quality, development, and patient safety.

The position includes two-shift work with duty every fourth weekend and is scheduled in fixed eight-week schedules with light weekend planning.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Licensed nurse with specialized training in operating room nursing
  • At least 3 years of clinical experience as an operating nurse

Desirable:

  • Experience coordinating teams within surgical operations.

The function of Perioperative Medicine and Intensive Care is the hospital's collective resource for anesthesia, surgery, pre- and postoperative care, and intensive care for adults. We are also responsible for hyperbaric chambers (HBO), highly specialized pain management, and the sterile technical units.
