Medical Director in Region Stockholm's Prehospital Care
Do you want to contribute your experience in a role that truly makes a difference while helping to develop an important function within Region Stockholm's prehospital care? Then Medical Director might be for you.
We are now looking for more dedicated nurses who want to be part of the team. The function is staffed by the Ambulance Care Administration and plays an important role in coordinating the region's special resources. The work takes place around the clock, all year round. As the assignment grows, we are now strengthening the team with more knowledgeable colleagues!
Your Responsibilities
The Medical Director is a function under continued development within the region's prioritization and directing service, with a central role regarding coordination of the region's special resources. As a Medical Director, you work in a team with prehospital on-call and operational coordinator. You coordinate the region's emergency and on-call doctor vehicles as well as ambulance helicopters by identifying the right assignment for the right resource, assessing cases, managing alerts, flight-following, and coordinating the region's helicopter landing sites. Your mission is to ensure that resources are used optimally.
Part of the expanded mission is to work more actively with waiting patients. You continuously assess needs to ensure that the right patient receives the right care at the right time.
You also support other colleagues in the prioritization and directing service in medical assessments. You will work together with prehospital on-call to identify cases for the doctor vehicles. The Medical Director is staffed around the clock, all year round, as are the emergency and on-call doctor vehicles and ambulance helicopters. This means that you should be prepared to work both day and night shifts, every day of the week.
Qualifications
- Licensed nurse with further education in ambulance care with at least three years of professional experience and prehospital experience.
- You are fluent in Swedish both spoken and written and have good knowledge of English. Good knowledge of the medical treatment guidelines and prehospital directives applicable to ambulance care in Stockholm. Completed training in AMLS and PS.
- We work in an IT-intensive environment with several different systems that you will learn here. We expect you to master the basics of the most common Office programs and have good computer skills.
Meritorious
- Experience with emergency and on-call doctor vehicles or helicopter/air ambulance or alarm center work.
- Familiarity with working in CoordCom or HEMSWX.
- Specialist nurse in Anesthesia and Ambulance Care.
- Work as a specialist nurse in emergency doctor vehicles or helicopters.
- Well acquainted with Region Stockholm's disaster medical plan and good knowledge of 1177 Vårdguiden and Vårdgivarguiden.
Personal Qualities
In the role of Medical Director, you need to be able to make medical assessments under time pressure, sometimes with limited information. You are confident in your professional role, structured, and used to making decisions even when many factors need to be weighed.
You find it easy to prioritize between interventions and quickly see what is most urgent. The role requires you to have a holistic perspective, not only on the individual assignment but on the entire care chain.
You thrive in collaboration with others and have a communicative ability that allows you to listen, express yourself clearly, and contribute to good cooperation with different functions. Accuracy and judgment are important, as is the willingness to develop working methods together with colleagues. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities.
Other
The recruitment process includes, in addition to an interview, a logic and personality test. The position is classified in a security class, which means that a security review with a register and background check will be conducted for the final candidates in the recruitment process before a hiring decision is made. The position may be subject to military placement.
