The Building and Environment Department is seeking a dedicated Environmental Protection Inspector for the Food and Health Unit. The unit primarily works with supervision and administration within health protection, shoreline protection, food control, as well as alcohol and tobacco. The unit consists of 9 employees. In total, about 38 employees work in the entire Building and Environment Department, dealing with building permits, environmental and health protection supervision, food control, and alcohol and tobacco supervision.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Environmental Protection Inspector, you will conduct assessments and supervision according to the Environmental Code to create a sustainable society. You will work with assessments and supervision of shoreline protection, environmentally hazardous activities affecting residential environments, health protection activities including solariums, radon, and smoke-free environments.

The tasks include processing notifications, conducting complaint investigations, and performing supervision. Your role includes setting requirements and making administrative decisions in accordance with the municipality's delegation order or preparing and presenting cases before the Building and Environment Committee's politicians.

It is of great importance that you can seek legal support and write decisions that are both legally supported and backed by case law. You will belong to and work together in a team, and you are expected to participate in the workplace's quality work and operational development.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a university or college degree focused on environmental and health protection or another education that we assess as equivalent. Since the position involves the Environmental Code, you need to have knowledge of applicable environmental legislation and administrative work, preferably within municipal administration. A driver's license (B) is a requirement for the position.

It is advantageous if you have professional experience in administrative enforcement and practical experience in supervision of shoreline protection and health protection activities.

The tasks involve many contacts with business operators and municipal residents. Therefore, it is important that you are service-oriented and have an easy time expressing yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish. You need to be confident in setting clear requirements when warranted, which means you remain calm and composed even in pressured situations.

You should have good initiative, a willingness to take responsibility, and be able to plan and prioritize your work effectively. We place great importance on being solution-oriented and being able to work both independently and in a team to achieve the organization's goals. You should easily collaborate with your colleagues and be willing to contribute to a good team spirit and forward momentum in the workplace.
