We are looking for an occupational therapist who wants to help prevent and treat mental health issues among children and adolescents!

The Role of the Occupational Therapist

In this position, you will work with the growing individual at the center and provide the best health care. Your responsibilities include supporting parenting and early detection, prevention, and treatment of physical, mental, and social health issues. The work should be based on the child's/adolescent's perspective, and for their best interest, all employees should contribute to ensuring that the operations are characterized by good treatment, competence, a holistic view, development, safety, collaboration, and participation.

Examples of tasks include:

• Contributing occupational therapy expertise at team and treatment conferences.
• Prescribing assistive devices.
• Creating individual visual supports together with the patient and relatives to facilitate daily life and make the patient more independent.
• Working on activity balance, time perception, stress load, and structure during transitions.
• Structuring morning/evening routines and prescribing weighted blankets for sleep disturbances.
• Conducting parent education together with other professionals in the team.

Your Future Workplace

The Child and Adolescent Health service caters to children and adolescents from preschool to 17 years old with mild to moderate mental health issues. By having a holistic perspective on the child's entire daily life, we can make a significant difference with short, targeted interventions such as individual and group therapy and parental support. We also offer online CBT for adolescents.

Our team consists of psychologists, social workers, nurses, doctors, special educators, occupational therapists, and administrative staff. We work in teams and are committed to improving our services. We often collaborate with schools and social services. The Child and Adolescent Health service in Värnamo also works closely with corresponding clinics in Huskvarna and Nässjö.

Your Profile

We are looking for a licensed occupational therapist with a genuine interest in working with the rehabilitation of children and adolescents. Previous experience working with children and adolescents is seen as a positive asset.

You take initiative and manage your tasks in a structured and independent manner. Good communication skills in both spoken and written form are also considered valuable.
