Welcome to Livet – a unit at Karolinska University Hospital that includes Restaurant & Bistro. Here, you work together with your team to create daily dining experiences that provide energy, joy, and well-being for healthcare staff and visitors.

  • Restaurant – buffet lunch for about 800 guests per day
  • Bistro – à la carte menu with about 150 guests per day

Your Role as Head Chef

As head chef, the position is primarily operational – you cook a lot and work in the kitchen with the team for most of the day.

Your Responsibilities:

Leadership & Operations

  • Lead, coach, and train the kitchen and dishwashing team (about 12 people).
  • Work closely with the restaurant manager and site manager to achieve set financial and quality goals.
  • Be responsible for scheduling, staffing, and work management.
  • Ensure that Coor's guidelines, routines, policies, and self-control are followed.

Cooking & Quality

  • Ensure high quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Drive menu development with creativity and structure, focusing on sustainable dishes.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene (HACCP).
  • Work sustainably and minimize waste, focusing on reducing CO₂ emissions and minimizing beef consumption.

Planning & Administration

  • Be responsible for the flow of goods, orders, delivery checks, and inventory.
  • Follow up on food waste and the kitchen's performance in relation to set goals.
  • Work in and have a good understanding of our systems (meriting: Rillion, Quinyx, Klimato, Martin & Servera's inventory system).
  • Ensure effective routines, checklists, and self-control.

We are looking for someone who…

  • Has relevant education and at least 5 years of experience as a head chef or in a similar role.
  • Is confident in your leadership – inspiring, clear, structured, and present.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and is used to handling large volumes.
  • Has experience from larger lunch operations, preferably combined with à la carte and catering.
  • Has excellent knowledge of food hygiene, allergens, and sustainable food production.
  • Is solution-oriented, unpretentious, and creates joy in the team.
  • Enjoys early mornings – shifts start at 6:00 AM.
  • Has a strong commitment to sustainability, climate-smart cooking, waste reduction, and minimizing beef consumption.
  • A driving license (B) is a plus but not a requirement.

About the Position

  • Employment type: Permanent position
  • Employment rate: Full-time 100%
  • Working hours: Mon-Fri 6-15
  • Start date: By agreement February/March 2026
  • Probationary period: 6 months
