Working in the stroke unit offers both variety, responsibility, and development. Here you will meet patients at all stages of life, and the tasks vary from acute stroke care to neurology. The work includes participation in treatment, diagnostics, prevention, and rehabilitation. We care for both patients with greater monitoring needs requiring close observation and patients with other symptoms that need to be investigated and treated. You will be a central part of our stroke team where collaboration between different professions is key. As a nursing assistant, you are often the important link between the patient, relatives, the municipality, and other care providers, contributing to a safe and secure care process and discharge.

About You

For this position, we are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant; if you have previous experience in stroke/neurology care, we consider this an advantage. You are a person who feels secure in your profession and enjoys taking initiative and learning new things. Since our care area can change rapidly, both regarding patients' conditions and workload, we see it as important that you have the ability to work in a structured manner and prioritize your work when needed.

Department 6, the stroke unit, has 12 beds focusing on stroke, neurology, and general internal medicine. The Medicine Clinic in Västervik provides qualified internal medicine services available around the clock for our residents aged 18 and older. The clinic has three inpatient wards, a dialysis unit, and two outpatient clinics where all specialist clinics are represented. As an employee, you will receive training in all three inpatient wards to be able to work where needed. Outpatient care is also provided in the wards, such as heart, lung, and stroke clinics.

Västervik Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. The hospital is an emergency hospital with maternity care and a maternity ward.
