At the Medical Clinic at Västervik Hospital, we offer a trainee program that provides you with a broad medical foundation, opportunities for specialization, and a stable platform for your continued professional development as a nurse.

The trainee program lasts for 1 year and involves rotation between our medical departments, approximately 4 months per department, as well as opportunities for internships within both the medical clinic and our outpatient clinics. At each placement, you will receive an individually tailored introduction. You will be assigned a mentor who will support you throughout the program. Internal training and reflection opportunities will be offered continuously, and you will also be covered by Region Kalmar County's introductory year for newly graduated nurses. After completing the trainee year, your employment will transition to a permanent position within the medical specialty you wish to continue in, in dialogue with the organization.

Work on the medical ward 4 involves varied tasks where we primarily care for and treat patients with acute heart disease, heart failure, and arrhythmias, as well as other internal medicine conditions. You will be part of a team consisting of nurses, nursing assistants, and doctors. The goal is to create safe and secure care with good treatment outcomes for patients.

On medical ward 5, you will be welcomed to a department with a broad internal medicine patient group. Here, inpatients are cared for, with a particular focus on lung disease, diabetes, and kidney disease. You work as a nurse in close collaboration with other knowledgeable colleagues, and together you deliver good care and positive treatment outcomes for patients.

Medical ward 6 offers an exciting combination of emergency care, internal medicine, and specialized expertise in stroke care and neurology. The tasks involve great variation and include care of patients at different stages, including treatment, diagnostics, prevention, and rehabilitation.

The position is a permanent employment, and a probationary period may be applied.

About you

The trainee program is suitable for both newly graduated nurses who have not yet decided which area they want to work in, as well as experienced nurses who wish to broaden their skills or try a new area for a while. You are a person who feels secure in yourself, takes responsibility for your work, and has a desire to develop and learn new things. Since the pace in healthcare can vary quickly, both due to patients' conditions and workload, you have the ability to work systematically and can prioritize when the situation requires it. You enjoy working in a team and contribute to a good work environment through a humble, professional, and constructive approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
