Kitchen Assistant at Kristineberg Marine Research Station

The Swedish Polar Research Secretariat is a government agency that promotes and coordinates Swedish polar research. The agency is responsible for long-term planning of research and research infrastructure, as well as organizing and conducting research expeditions in the Arctic and Antarctica.

The operations include, among others, the Abisko Scientific Station, Kristineberg Marine Research Station, the icebreaker Oden, and the Swedish research stations Wasa and Svea in Antarctica. The Swedish Polar Research Secretariat has about 50 employees and is located in Luleå, Abisko, Helsingborg, and at Kristineberg in Lysekil municipality.

The agency's overarching goal is to contribute to increased international impact for Swedish polar research through collaboration, high-quality research infrastructure, and international partnerships.

The Kristineberg Marine Research Station is responsible for promoting and coordinating marine research related to polar and ocean research. Kristineberg is a national research infrastructure and serves as a central platform for marine, coastal, and deep-sea related research.

The Swedish Polar Research Secretariat is now looking for one or two kitchen assistants for the marine research support unit, based at the Kristineberg Marine Research Station in Fiskebäckskil.

Job Responsibilities

Currently, three permanent employees work in the kitchen. The need for extra support varies over time, and the employment means that you will be called in as needed.

As a kitchen assistant, you will work with various kitchen tasks, such as:

  • breakfast service
  • basic cooking
  • dishes and cleaning
  • stocking and organizing the kitchen
  • preparation and participation in coffee and meeting service

Regular working hours are daytime, Monday to Friday. Evening and weekend work may occur.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is meticulous, responsible, and can work independently. You have a service-oriented approach and contribute to a good reception of guests and colleagues.

It is an advantage if you have previous experience in cooking in a restaurant or large kitchen.

Requirements

  • Good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
  • The tasks require attention to detail, good planning skills, flexibility, and responsibility

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Intermittent employment (hourly employment as needed) during the period from March 1, 2026, to February 28, 2027. You have the right to accept or decline each work opportunity.
