The City Environment Administration has a comprehensive responsibility for the city's public spaces and overall accessibility.

We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. About 900 people work at the administration.

Job Responsibilities

As a seasonal employee, you will be visible in the archipelago, and many visitors in Gothenburg may turn to you with tourist-related questions. This means you will be the face of the City Environment Administration and Gothenburg City while you work.

The City Environment Administration is now looking for boat drivers for our cleaning boats M/S Ö-Renat and M/S Renström.

• As a boat driver on M/S Ö-Renat, you will clean in Gothenburg's archipelago, e.g., on islands, skerries, and beaches.
• As a boat driver on M/S Renström, you will clean the city's canals and internal waterways.

The cleaning area consists of about 200 islands stretching from Billdal in the south to the mouth of the Nordre Älv in the north. Your efforts contribute to cleaning the sea from plastic and other debris. Each year, about 20 tons of waste is collected. During certain periods of the summer, you may need to supervise summer workers and guide them in the beach cleaning work.

If needed and in case of weather changes, you may need to step in as a beach host or street cleaner. Beach hosts perform cleaning and are hosts at the city's beaches. Street cleaners perform cleaning and weed control of the city's streets, squares, parks, and playgrounds.

As a boat driver on M/S Ö-Renat, you will work Monday to Friday from approximately April 4 to September 30. Some weekend and evening work may occur.

As a boat driver on M/S Renström, you will work Monday to Friday from approximately May 1 to September 30. Some weekend and evening work may occur.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Ship's officer examination at least class VIII
• Swimming ability and good physical condition
• Proficiency in the Swedish language, both spoken and written
• Good computer/mobile skills to manage and produce content in digital channels.
• B driver's license
• As a boat driver, driving experience is also required.

It is an advantage if you have previous experience with handheld machines, such as trimmers. We also consider previous experience in similar positions as an advantage. Experience in commercial operations and previous experience navigating in Gothenburg's archipelago is also advantageous. Additionally, BE driver's license, C driver's license, and Chainsaw training A-B are advantageous.

Out on the sea, you take responsibility and feel engaged in your tasks. You need to be proactive and able to collaborate but also act independently. In case of sudden weather changes and unforeseen events, you need to be flexible and able to make quick decisions and adjust plans. You should have a good demeanor and be concerned that Gothenburgers, visitors, and businesses have a pleasant experience.
