Do you want to work closely with operations and play a central role in developing and future-proofing transport solutions within the industry? At the Transport Department at SSAB Luleå, we are now looking for a planner/technician who wants to contribute to safe and cost-effective transportation in an operation with high demands on safety, quality, structure, and collaboration.

In this role, you will combine operational planning with technical development work and become an important part of the work on continuous improvements and future transport solutions, especially related to our new steel mill.

Becoming a part of the SSAB family means joining us on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the planet's future and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for our societal development and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges that connect our cities, and in tomorrow's cars. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. Therefore, we have developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and are committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

In the role of planner/technician, you will support the planning and development work of the Transport Department to ensure safe and cost-effective transportation for both internal customers within SSAB Luleå and external customers. The role is central to creating structure for continuous improvements and ensuring future transport solutions, especially related to our new steel mill.

You will work on improving customer dialogue and clarifying our service commitments, for example, when, where, and how orders for transport should be made. The work contributes to increased planability in the operation as well as better utilization of transport resources, improved transport flows, and thus higher quality and lower costs.

The role includes planning transport assignments towards the production units on the site in Luleå, personnel planning for Transport, and an active responsibility for development work related to a safe and efficient transport operation in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

You will also be part of the management team for the Transport Department.

Your main responsibilities

  • Drive and support technical issues and solutions related to our assignments, machines, and accessories.
  • Improve and develop the planning of our positions, jobs, and resources.
  • Drive and participate in both smaller and larger improvement efforts and improvement projects.
  • Together with the section managers, develop contact points with internal customers and external partners to reduce costs for purchased transport services.

About you

  • You are a driven person with a genuine interest in machines and technical solutions.
  • You have the ability to handle multiple ongoing tasks simultaneously and maintain structure and focus even when conditions change rapidly.
  • You work in a structured manner and have a good aptitude for planning.
  • You have good computer skills and are comfortable with the Office suite, and it is an advantage if you have worked in IFS (or similar systems).
  • If you have previous experience in safety work, this is an advantage.
  • If you have previous experience working in an industrial environment, preferably in production planning or similar, this is also an advantage.
  • You speak and write fluently in Swedish and English.

Our offer

At SSAB, diversity and inclusion are part of our culture. We use our values – driven, genuine, and one step ahead – in our daily decision-making, always with the customer in focus. This makes us all team players, with a common goal to improve ourselves. We will support your growth by offering a safe and friendly workplace that contributes to the balance between work and private life. At SSAB, you have the opportunity to broaden your knowledge and grow.
