The Lung Department in Lund is a unit with dual competence in both thoracic surgery and pulmonology. Currently, we have 14 care places in the department and need to hire more nursing assistants to maintain the quality of care we strive for. Our care places treat patients with various thoracic diseases such as lung cancer, pneumothorax, trauma, and thoracic deformities, as well as various lung diseases. We care for patients during transplantation investigations, after completed transplantation, tracheostomized patients, and provide palliative care, among others.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The operation is based on teamwork where we all strive to provide our patients with high-quality care. The work is very challenging, technically educational, and provides deep knowledge in both medical, surgical pre-/post-operative, and palliative care. In the role of nursing assistant in our department, you will be an important part of a team that drives care and the department forward.

We want you as a nursing assistant to be part of the patient-centered care, but also to be involved in our development processes and drive our issues regarding routines in the department. The operation works based on clear and set goals that are continuously followed up. A favorable work schedule model is applied in the form of a quota system. Scheduling occurs during the day, evening, and night with service two out of five weekends. Desired schedules are applied and adjusted according to the needs of the operation.

With us, you will be offered a four-week well-structured individual introduction program with an assigned mentor. Our introduction program aims to give you a secure foundation to work on, but also an insight into how we work within the different parts of our operational area.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant and meets the requirements of the National Board of Health and Welfare for protected professional titles, regardless of whether you have studied according to previous or current program structures. You have good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written. Furthermore, we would like you to have a few years of experience working as a nursing assistant. We place great importance on competence and experience from hospitals, as acute situations can arise quickly that require prompt action from nursing assistants, and being able to recognize early signs of deterioration in a patient can be crucial. Previous experience in pulmonary, thoracic surgical, palliative, or oncological care is an advantage.

Please note that you need to attach certificates/transcripts (not just a diploma) from your nursing assistant education for your application to be considered complete. If you have received your certificate for protected professional title, this should also be attached to your application. You need to present proof of protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate that you were permanently employed on July 1, 2023. If you do not have this proof, you will be employed as a care assistant, and the employment is temporary, pending the proof.
