Job Responsibilities

As a control room engineer with us, you will work with many competent colleagues across departmental and unit boundaries within the administration.

Our unit “Production Control Room” belongs to the department for “Drinking Water Production” where our two waterworks and their external facilities are organized. Your role can be divided into two parts: regular working hours and outside regular working hours.

During regular working hours, we spend most of our time at the waterworks by being part of one of our two operational teams responsible for the operation of the waterworks from the local control rooms.

Outside regular working hours, we work in the administration's central control room. Since we are the only unit that operates around the clock, tasks from all areas of the administration are handed over to us to manage outside regular working hours, both regarding operations and access to our facilities.

Among other things, we monitor:

  • Raw water intakes
  • Drinking water production/distribution with associated facilities and pipeline networks
  • Sewage pumping stations with associated pipeline networks
  • Waste facilities.

You handle data and alarms that come into the control room and draw conclusions from the available information. You have a central role in drinking water preparation in your daily work and collaborate broadly both internally and externally regarding facilities related to Kretslopp and water's assignments.

During evenings, nights, and weekends, control room engineers have contact with the public via SOS Alarm, which may come with inquiries or information to the control room regarding drinking water, pipeline networks, and/or waste. Your tasks also include administrative work such as writing procedures/instructions and documenting events.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A 3-year university degree in process industry, for example, marine engineering.
  • Alternatively, you have several years of relevant experience in the process industry related to water, electricity, or thermal power, including work in control rooms with operational monitoring, either alone or in a group.

If you have previously worked shifts and have experience with the control systems Cactus and ABB, it is an advantage. It is beneficial if you have worked with logbooks and have documentation experience.

To be successful in the role of control room engineer, we see that you take responsibility for your and shared tasks. You are motivated to complete what you have started and ensure that the work is done correctly. In your assignments, you will work together with several actors, so we see that you enjoy collaborating. By being interested and creating understanding for others, you contribute to a respectful work climate. No day is the same, and challenging situations will arise in your assignments, which requires you to be calm and secure in your role. You work effectively under stress, can balance different demands, and can make well-founded decisions under time pressure. To succeed in the job, we see it as a prerequisite that you can analyze a problem in unexpected situations to trace where and what caused an error, and from the given information draw logical conclusions. Since the position includes administrative tasks, we see that you can express yourself well in both speech and writing.

The position is security classified, which requires Swedish citizenship and a passed security check, including alcohol and drug testing and a background check via Säpo.
