Field of Operations: Geriatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine, and Pain Center

We are Uppsala University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!

Our Operations

At Uppsala University Hospital, occupational therapists work in many different fields, both in inpatient and outpatient care. As an occupational therapist, you will meet people in many different situations and can expect a varied and meaningful job with stimulating tasks.

The field of rehabilitation and pain center consists of three sections: health professions, pain center, and rehabilitation medicine. All sections are characterized by a well-functioning interprofessional collaboration, something we are very proud of. As a newcomer, you will be offered supervision, an introductory program, and the opportunity to participate in a professional network.

The core of our field of operations is rehabilitation, and we continuously strive to develop and improve. An important focus is research and progress, both within and outside the hospital, of which you as an employee are an important part. It is natural for you to want to develop and drive the operations forward. Ward 85C is a rehabilitation ward within inpatient care with 16 places that receives patients aged 18 and older. There are two medical specialties here, Rehabilitation Medicine and Neurogeriatrics, both focused on the rehabilitation of patients with diseases or acquired injuries to the nervous system.

We are a department with over 60 employees from various professions. In our department, we have time for our patients, and we have the opportunity to follow them through the entire process. It is with us that patients take the fundamental steps back towards as independent and active a life as possible.

Your Mission

We are now looking for an engaged occupational therapist with an interest in stroke, traumatic injuries, and neurology. The foundation for the rehabilitative approach is close collaboration in an interprofessional team with a holistic view of the patient. Together, the team works to provide professional care and rehabilitation.

Your tasks include assessing and training the patient's activity and functional ability. This includes, among other things, assessment/training of cognition, hand function, fitting of orthoses, P-ADL, I-ADL, home visits, fitting and prescribing assistive devices, etc.

Contact with occupational therapists in the municipality or other healthcare units for planning further interventions is also part of your tasks.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed occupational therapist. If you have previous experience in stroke and neurological rehabilitation or geriatric rehabilitation, it is something we value, but we also welcome you who are newly graduated.

Your Competence

You are an engaged and positive colleague who wants to influence and develop our operations. As a person, you have good collaboration skills and enjoy working in a team while feeling responsible for your own contributions and our patients. You believe that professional and pleasant interaction, perhaps with a touch of humor, is a valuable tool for creating good relationships with patients and colleagues. In our recruitment, we will place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We Offer

We offer a permanent full-time position with a start date according to agreement.

As an employee with us, you will have access to the Friskhuset at Uppsala University Hospital with a gym, group training, and training advice, etc.

With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
