Occupational Therapist at Mottagningen Öster
Welcome to a pleasant workplace characterized by openness, good community, humor, and joy in work. Mottagningen Öster is part of the Psychiatric Center at Västmanlands Hospital in Västerås.
Job Responsibilities
As an occupational therapist with us, you will be part of the clinic's interdisciplinary team of about 15 employees with different competencies collaborating around the patient. You will be responsible for the occupational therapy assignment and participate in regular treatment conferences to contribute to a common and cohesive working method. In this role, you will work both independently and closely with other professional categories. You will assess and evaluate patients' activity abilities and support needs, write statements, and assess the need for, prescribe, and follow up on assistive devices, such as cognitive aids and weighted products. You will also implement treatment interventions for improved activity balance, often with psychoeducational elements.
The work includes both shorter and longer treatment contacts over time, individually and in groups. Home visits may occur, as well as collaboration with other actors and the patient's network. Occupational therapists in adult psychiatry have regular joint meetings and supervision.
If you have an interest in the target group and want to help develop the future of psychiatry, we offer an assignment and an introduction tailored to your needs and interests.
Opportunity for Rehabilitation Coordinator Role
In the role of occupational therapist, there is also the opportunity to work as a rehabilitation coordinator at the clinic. As a rehabilitation coordinator, you will support sick-listed patients in the rehabilitation process and work to facilitate their return to work or the start of work-oriented rehabilitation.
The assignment also involves being a support for doctors and other professionals in rehabilitation and sick leave matters, as well as strengthening collaboration between the clinic and external actors such as the Social Insurance Agency, the Employment Service, and employers. There is a regional network for rehabilitation coordinators that offers coordination, support, and supervision.
The assignment is currently held by a specialist nurse but may become relevant for an occupational therapist if interest and competence exist among applicants.
