We are looking for a new colleague to join our team!
Are you looking for a varied and patient-centered job with many different services under one roof? Then you might be the one we are looking for. We offer you a meaningful job where you have the opportunity to develop and grow with us.
Job Responsibilities
Are you an engaged nurse who wants to care closely for patients, who is passionate about providing a safe and professional approach, and who prioritizes the patient? We aim to become Sweden's best stroke care department again. Do you want to be part of the journey?
We care for acute stroke patients in the monitoring unit, patients who need rehabilitation after a stroke, patients who need to be mobilized and relieved of pain after fractures, and geriatric patients with medical conditions. We treat complex issues such as disabilities, swallowing difficulties, visual disturbances, and speech difficulties related to stroke.
Anna-Maria's thoughts on being employed here:
“My experience as a nurse on ward 2 is that it is a department characterized by safety, care, and humor. I think that is important when we work with people who are in a life-changing situation. We have a strong collaboration with other professions, which I believe has broadened my knowledge as a nurse.”
With us, you will provide immediate and specialized care. You will be responsible for acute treatment, monitor the patient's condition, and provide support for early mobilization. Your duties will include standard nursing tasks where you have overall care responsibility, perform sampling, administer medications, supervise and manage access points such as IVs, central lines, or peripheral lines. We also manage catheters, various types of drains, preparation of antibiotics in the final system, and the use of medical equipment such as medication pumps, feeding pumps, and telemetry monitoring.
Our operations are regularly evaluated against national guidelines and quality registers to ensure high care quality.
About the Workplace
We are constantly working to improve care for our patients and to create a good working environment and a fun and rewarding workplace. Employees are offered the opportunity to drive projects and develop the operations together. We provide all our staff with training in stroke care (3 credits). The Medical Clinic in Köping provides acute internal medicine care in western and northern Västmanland, serving a population of about 85,000 residents. Within the Medical Clinic in Köping, all internal medical diseases are investigated and treated, and each department has profile areas where staff have in-depth knowledge. The clinic is large enough to provide good experience in treating common medical diseases and small enough for individual employees to see the whole picture, be recognized, and feel at home throughout the clinic. We have a good working environment and community.
We have 18 care places distributed across acute stroke, rehabilitation, orthopedic rehab, and geriatrics. Currently, we have about 50 employees. On ward 2, you will be welcomed to a workplace with a family-like and open work climate where we value good collaboration between all professions.
Introduction and Development Opportunities
We want you as a nurse to receive a good introduction with us so that you feel secure in your role, and therefore we tailor your onboarding according to your needs. For those who are newly graduated, Region Västmanland offers a comprehensive introductory year for newly graduated nurses where you will receive a long-term introduction into the profession together with our other new additions within the region.
For us in Region Västmanland, your professional development is not only important but crucial for us to meet future needs and demands. It is important that you know what development opportunities you have, and we have therefore developed a competency model for nurses. We want you to continue to develop and further your education with us. We offer a wide range of training that takes place internally at our Training Unit and our Clinical Training Center.
For us, it is important that you feel good and enjoy your job, which is why we offer you:
- tailored introductory program to help you feel secure and confident in your professional role
- opportunity for professional development through internal training
- a workplace for different stages of life, with the possibility of flexible working hours within certain frameworks
- free access to our fully equipped gym
- wellness allowance of 3000 SEK/year

Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse and preferably have a few years of experience in the profession. If you have experience caring for stroke patients, it is an advantage. If you do not have prior experience but are interested in the position, you will be offered internal training.
As a person, you are secure, stable, and have good self-awareness. Since the work can change rapidly in various ways, you need to be flexible and have the ability to maintain your calm and focus in new situations. You have a good ability to structure your work independently and take responsibility for your tasks. We work in teams and see collaboration and clarity as very important ingredients for success. The work in the department involves close contact with both patients and relatives, which makes empathy an important fundamental character trait for you.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
