The Swedish Energy Agency works for a fossil-free and robust energy supply

Your tasks – contribute to more resource-efficient products

As an investigator in market control, you will work independently to drive your cases from start to finish. You will also collaborate with your colleagues to ensure that products on the Swedish market meet the requirements according to applicable regulations on ecodesign and energy labeling.

Typical tasks include:

  • Analyzing the market and selecting products that may be faulty.
  • Reviewing technical documentation and test reports.
  • Documenting results in internal and European systems.
  • Interpreting and implementing current and new regulations.
  • Preparing and making decisions on legal actions.

The work also includes communication efforts, company contacts, and legal interpretations. You will have ongoing dialogue with companies and industry actors and be responsible for communicating legal requirements clearly and pedagogically. The current legislation is technically detailed, and you should have an interest in understanding calculations and how various energy-related products work. There are colleagues who can support you with more difficult interpretations. We help each other and make use of each other's experience and expertise. We also collaborate with colleagues in the unit working on regulatory development at the EU level, the agency's laboratory, and other authorities.

There are good opportunities to shape the position based on interest, skills, and experience. In addition to market control, you can also contribute to the unit's development work, such as digital tools, databases, and process improvements.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic education in a relevant field, preferably with a focus on technology, energy, sustainability, law, or other education deemed suitable by the employer.

You have good spoken and written skills in both Swedish and English, as well as good knowledge of IT systems and programs. Travel may be required, and you need to be willing to travel for work if necessary.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience in market control or supervision within the public sector or compliance within the private sector.
  • Knowledge of energy-related products or batteries.
  • Experience in equivalent qualified case management at an authority.
  • Experience working with digital tools and databases.
  • Knowledge of life cycle analysis and sustainability in value chains.
  • Experience in follow-up or evaluation work.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities. To succeed and thrive in the role, you are structured, and you plan and organize your work efficiently. You set and adhere to deadlines. You collaborate well with others and communicate in a responsive and clear manner, both with colleagues and external actors. As a person, you are stable and self-assured. You are meticulous and quality-conscious and handle complex issues systematically. You analyze, weigh complex information, and demonstrate judgment in statements, actions, and decisions.

About us

The Product Unit works with the implementation of EU regulations regarding ecodesign and energy labeling, product regulations focusing on energy efficiency, resource efficiency, and environmental performance. We are a dedicated and knowledge-driven team of ten people with interdisciplinary backgrounds – lawyers, economists, social scientists, and engineers who together create a dynamic work environment where knowledge exchange and development are in focus.

The unit's market control team consists of five colleagues who work together to ensure that products on the Swedish market meet the requirements according to applicable regulations. In addition, the unit participates in EU regulatory development, which gives us the opportunity to influence future legislation. In the coming year, we may also be responsible for market control of requirements under the EU Battery Regulation, which means we will need to develop our operations to handle a new regulatory framework.
