Department of Plastic and Oral Surgery
We are Uppsala University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer care to two million people in Central Sweden. There is always something happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!
Our Operations
Within the department of plastic and oral surgery, a large part of the hospital's highly specialized national and regional care is conducted in close collaboration between different specialties. The entire department has nearly 200 employees. The operations are quality certified according to ISO 9001:2015 and SS-EN 15224:2012. The oral surgery section is a multidisciplinary workplace with over 45 employees specializing in oral surgery, orofacial medicine, jaw and facial radiology, and jaw orthopedics.
With us, you will find the entire spectrum of oral surgical treatments, including facial trauma, jaw joint, anomaly, and reconstructive surgery, as well as dentoalveolar surgery including dental implants. Our patients are cared for in the plastic and oral surgical ward where the oral surgeon has their own medical responsibility for their patients. The section conducts research in active collaboration with Uppsala University and several international partners in academia and industry.
Your Mission
With us, you will work as an assistant dentist at the peak of your competence. You are expected to take significant personal responsibility both during the day and on call, always with the support of experienced specialists. You will primarily work with dentoalveolar surgery and day shifts, but you will be part of the team and, if deemed appropriate, also have the opportunity to participate in more highly specialized care. On-call duty during inconvenient working hours (evenings, nights, and weekends) is included in the position.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who wants to take the next step in their development towards a future career in oral surgery. You are a licensed dentist with at least two years of general practice equivalent to full-time. You should have a documented interest in oral surgery. Additional medical training is an advantage.
Your Competence
Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities where we want you to be self-driven, structured, and have good collaborative skills, as teamwork – even with other medical specialties – occurs daily. You are stable, calm, and controlled even in pressured situations, with the ability to focus on the right things. You are mature, have good self-awareness, and make well-founded assessments by weighing complex information and prioritizing responsibly. At the same time, you are aware of your own limitations and have a strong interest in continuous development. Good knowledge of Swedish is an absolute requirement.
We Offer
We offer a fixed-term full-time position primarily, possibly part-time, for 6 months. For the right individual, there is then the possibility of extension, but for a maximum of 1 year. Start date according to agreement.
With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
