Workplace Description

The position is linked to the research group for temperature biology, led by Andreas Nord, which includes a full-time research technician as well as several PhD students and postdocs.

The work is entirely located at the experimental animal facility run by the Department of Biology.

Job Responsibilities

As a student assistant, the tasks may vary, but they should always have a clear connection to your studies.

The work involves supervision of laboratory animals as an integral part of currently ongoing scientific studies. The student assistant is expected to work with animal care and supervision, as well as related tasks, but will also be able to deepen their knowledge in scientific methodology relevant to animal biological research, including blood sampling and other tissues, injections, and similar. The work will largely take place during weekends and holidays.

The tasks in this position include:

  • Animal care including feeding and cage cleaning
  • Scientific sampling as applicable
  • Support in the animal research operations, including assistance to the scientific supervisors

Qualifications

Eligible to be employed as a student assistant is someone who is pursuing full-time studies at the university level in Sweden, has completed approved studies corresponding to at least 60 higher education credits, and has not started a doctoral program.

Requirements for the position are that you:

  • are pursuing ongoing full-time studies within the master's program in biology or equivalent education that the employer deems relevant
  • have very good knowledge of Swedish and/or English, both spoken and written
  • have knowledge/experience in animal biology
  • hold a bachelor's degree in biology or an equivalent high school diploma as an animal caretaker

Desirable for the position is that you:

  • have experience working with laboratory animals in a laboratory animal facility
  • possess personal qualities that are advantageous, such as independence, teamwork ability, and good communication skills
  • Driving license B is advantageous but not a requirement

Other

The employment is limited to the period from 2026-02-16 to 2026-06-07, which is during the term for VT 2026, and is for a scope of 15%. You will work according to a fixed schedule to be established in agreement between you and the employer.
