Falun and Falu Hospital both have their origins at the Falu Copper Mine. An emergency hospital for the acutely ill and injured with 12 beds was established at the mine as early as 1695. At that time, Falun was the second city of the realm.

Falu Hospital is the county hospital of Dalarna with a catchment area of approximately 280,000 people and today plays a central role in Dalarna's specialist healthcare. The hospital has a good educational climate, several different clinics with a large patient base, and a well-developed and differentiated competence regarding both diagnostics and treatment. On-call duty during the hospital year is carried out together with an experienced physician and active backup support. 2-3 weeks of the internal medicine block is held at the medical clinic at Ludvika Hospital. In psychiatry, inpatient care is conducted in Säter and Falun, and outpatient care in Falun, Borlänge, or Ludvika. Primary care is conducted in Falun/Borlänge/Säter/Gagnef or in Västerbergslagen.

AT in Falun - Region Dalarna is looking for our future specialists Job Responsibilities

It is now time to apply for AT starting in mid-August and mid-November 2026.

Our setup:

• 6 months of internal medicine specialties, Falu Hospital, including 4 weeks at the medical clinic in Ludvika.
• 6 months of surgical specialties, Falu Hospital.
• 3 months of psychiatry. Inpatient psychiatry in the county's joint inpatient clinic in Falun and Säter. Outpatient psychiatry in Falun or Ludvika.
• 6 months of general medicine is done in Falun/Borlänge/Säter/Gagnef or in Västerbergslagen.

We are looking for someone with high social competence and good judgment. You are easy to collaborate with while also having a good ability to lead. You are mature, motivated, and have good self-awareness. You possess the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to successfully perform the job as an AT physician.

We are looking for our future specialists and would like you to have an interest in a more long-term collaboration and a willingness to contribute to developing the operations together with us in central Dalarna and Västerbergslagen.

Formal qualifications:

You must have a Swedish medical degree at the beginning of the general service and be able to present the corresponding diploma or the Socialstyrelsen's decision on general service. You should have good knowledge of the Swedish language.

If the Socialstyrelsen requires a legislative course, it must be approved at the time of application.

You do not need to send your diploma as an attachment to your application, but you should be able to present it if you proceed in the recruitment process.

As your service involves commuting, you must be able to show that you hold a driver's license for a manual transmission.

Job interviews will be held live on-site in Falun on March 5-6 and 9-11, 2026. If you cannot attend a live interview, we will of course arrange a digital interview.
