Software Engineer in Embedded Systems at Saab
Do you want to work at the forefront of technology and influence how future European fighter jets will operate? We are looking for a software engineer in embedded systems for Saab and their Software Architecture section. Here you will have a unique opportunity to work in an international research and development project focusing on analysis, requirements, architecture, and technical choices.
Responsibilities as a Software Engineer in Embedded Systems
In this role, you will work in a European defense project where several countries are collaboratively developing guidelines for the next generation of fighter jets, with a particular focus on software architecture. The project is research-driven and involves working with technical analysis, documentation, and requirements breakdown.
You will receive overarching system requirements from a separate systems department and break these down into software-level requirements. You will engage in discussions about architecture, propose technical solutions, and contribute well-founded recommendations to the project. The work is carried out in close collaboration with colleagues at Saab as well as external parties in other countries and research institutes.
This is a social and communicative role where you need to be comfortable with high-level technical discussions and be able to take your own initiative to find answers – through analysis, documentation, dialogue with colleagues, or independent information gathering.

Mandatory requirements:
- Bachelor's degree/Master's degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering/Embedded Systems/Aerospace Engineering/Equivalent
- Swedish and English proficiency in both spoken and written form
- Citizenship requirements due to work in a classified security area
- Knowledge of C/C++
Your tasks will include:
- Working in a European research and defense project related to future fighter jets
- Breaking down high-level requirements into software requirements
- Participating in technical discussions regarding architecture and system solutions
- Producing documentation, analyses, and reports
- Collaborating with international teams, Saab internally, and research institutes
- Contributing technical recommendations and solution proposals
