As a summer substitute with us, you will support individuals with disabilities, aiming to help them live an independent life with full participation. The goals of the users are our goals. Your tasks will vary depending on which unit you work in. You will be employed within one unit and placed at one or more workplaces, which are spread throughout Strängnäs Municipality. There will be opportunities to work throughout the summer or for parts of it. We have varying working hours such as day/evening, night, and weekends. LSS stands for the Act on Support and Service, and SoL stands for the Social Services Act.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Which service suits you? Below you can read about the areas available and the units for which we are currently seeking summer substitutes.

Short-term accommodation for children and youth LSS

The unit caters to families with children and youth aged 0 to 21 years. The short-term accommodation has 6 places. In daily work, activities and daily schedules are adapted to each user's needs.

Group housing LSS adults

Here, individuals live in their own apartments. You will work to provide educational support, care, and service, as well as support during leisure activities and social contacts. Alternative communication methods such as pictures, signs, and symbols may be used.

Service housing/ LSS adults

Here, you provide support based on individuals' circumstances. The aim is to offer a basic security in everyday life where you function as a social support and help individuals structure their daily lives.

Social psychiatry/ Housing support SoL

Work within social psychiatry focuses on users with mental disabilities who need practical, educational, and social support. This may involve working with everyday tasks such as planning, conversation support, cooking, cleaning, personal care, and shopping. We also have a housing support service that visits users living in their own apartments, covering the entire municipality, so a driver's license is required.

Daily activities and employment LSS/SoL

Within daily activities, various activities and tasks are offered, both indoors and outdoors. We work, for example, with gardening, assembly work, cleaning, laundry, crafts, singing, music, and games. In all our activities, we focus on promoting health, so it is not uncommon for us to go for walks or engage in other health-focused activities during the day. During the summer, we might take a dip or two in Lake Mälaren or do some other fun activity. In several of our operations, care work is involved.

Regardless of which service you will work in, you will receive thorough training to feel secure in your role. We work with trained supervisors and use appreciated introductory materials for new employees.

We are looking for someone who can work the whole or parts of the summer period, from June to August. There may also be opportunities to start your employment earlier or extend it after the summer as we have an ongoing need for substitutes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Who are you? We are looking for someone who has:

  • turned 18 years old
  • good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written
  • good computer skills to manage the organization's systems for social documentation
  • the ability to work independently while following the organization's routines and methods regarding users
  • availability to work during the summer period, June-August.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • education from the nursing program or the child and leisure program, post-secondary education in behavioral science, special education, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • experience in the LSS area and have worked with neuropsychiatric disabilities and psychiatry.
  • worked with low-arousal approaches and have experience creating educational environments characterized by calm and positive expectations.
  • Experience in delegation from a nurse.
  • A driver's license and good driving experience. This is a requirement to work in certain parts of the service area.

If you work in the user's home, you need to be prepared for the possibility of pets being present in our users' homes. For work with children and youth, a criminal record extract must be shown before employment.

As a person, you need to be able to build trust, instill security and calm in your professional role. Being attentive and empathetic is important as some users may have difficulty expressing their wishes and needs in verbal communication. To be able to handle the tasks with the user, both care work and leisure activities, you need to have generally good physical fitness. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability and interest in working with the target group.
