Water Engineer to the Water Unit

We are now looking for you who want to work as a Water Engineer together with us at the Water Unit.

The assignment involves working independently but also collaborating within the unit. We guarantee you a task with varied work assignments, and we believe it is suitable for you who enjoy a dynamic and diverse job. You can start with one role and then receive completely new and challenging tasks related to everything concerning the role of a Water Engineer.

What we are looking for now is someone who will ensure that our water maps and systems are current and reliable, which is a prerequisite for planning, operation, and future investments in the water network. Through analysis, updates, and quality assurance of pipeline data, you contribute to a robust and sustainable water system.

The role involves close collaboration with operations, project managers, contractors, and colleagues within the Water Unit and the Community Building Office. Your contributions provide direct benefits – for the organization, the environment, and the residents.

Responsibilities

In the role, you will among other things:

• Be responsible for updating, quality assurance, and development of water maps and pipeline network data
• Manage and follow up on actions in the water system related to operation, maintenance, and renewal
• Support the organization with mapping data and analyses that facilitate the right decisions at the right time
• Collaborate with operations staff, projects, contractors, and other internal functions
• Contribute to improved working methods and the work with digitization of the water operations

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a YH education or a university degree in one of the following areas:

• Water Technology
• Community Building
• GIS/Geodata
• Environmental Technology
• Construction/Land & Water

Alternatively, you have relevant work experience that is deemed equivalent.

The following are considered meritorious:

• Experience with water maps and pipeline network information
• Familiarity with working in GIS systems, e.g.:
• ArcGIS
• QGIS
• AutoCAD Map/Civil 3D
• Water databases (VA-banken, Trimble NIS)
• Experience in registering and updating water data
• Experience in handling customer cases, action and error management
• Knowledge of project planning, renewal planning, or pipeline guidance
• Understanding of water law

As a Water Engineer, you are meticulous, take initiative, start activities, and achieve results. You take responsibility for your tasks and can structure your workday well. You adapt easily and can quickly adjust to changing circumstances. We are looking for someone who is good at collaborating with others, where you listen, communicate, and drive the group forward in a positive spirit. Since the tasks vary, we believe you are used to working both practically with technical solutions and are stimulated by analytical problem-solving. You should have good knowledge of and be updated on the global situation to make assessments in information security and confidentiality.
