The Children and Youth Unit (VE) in Ystad consists of a pediatric emergency department, inpatient ward, day care, and a specialist clinic. We operate in Ystad with a total of about 80 employees and belong to the administration of Lasarettet in Ystad. VE Children and Youth Ystad is known for its employee-driven work approach and a continuous improvement spirit.

The pediatric and adolescent medicine department has three inpatient care places and additional places for day care for children and adolescents up to 18 years old. The medical specialties primarily include pediatrics, surgery, orthopedics, and ear-nose-throat diseases. Our Pediatric Emergency Department receives children and adolescents from all specialties, ages 0-18, with acute medical conditions around the clock. Ambulance alarms with priority levels two to four are also accepted.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We welcome innovative and development-oriented nurses or pediatric nurses to join us at the Pediatric Emergency Department and Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Department in Ystad.

With us, you will have a job with great breadth and variation as the operation includes the Pediatric Emergency Department, day care, and inpatient care. You will have the opportunity to make a difference for our patients and follow them through the entire care chain, from the emergency department to admission and discharge. We also care for children and adolescents before and after surgery.

In your role as a pediatric nurse, you will work in a team with nursing assistants, medical secretaries, physiotherapists, and dietitians. You will have close collaboration with doctors and you will work to ensure that the work flows smoothly. Your tasks include, in addition to the main task of caring for children and families, also working with development, work methods, and routines, and ensuring that the right equipment is available. Furthermore, you will work with assessment and triage of children and adolescents in the pediatric emergency department, respond to ambulance alarms, perform examinations, and treatments.

- Here in Ystad, the Pediatric Emergency Department and the Pediatric Ward are located in the same premises, and we work in both. Not least for the children and their families, this is a great security, but we in the staff also greatly appreciate being part of the care even after the visit to the Pediatric Emergency Department. It is so inspiring to work with children, not only because you work with the children but with the whole family, which adds another dimension to the work, says Anna, pediatric nurse.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a licensed pediatric nurse, or alternatively, you who are a licensed nurse with experience in pediatric care, with the authority to work within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s level scale are a requirement for the position. It is an advantage if you have training, interest, and knowledge in childhood obesity as well as experience in pediatric wards and pediatric emergency departments.

We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, who is confident in their professional role and who has a high flexibility to adapt to the work's conditions. You can plan and prioritize your work, have a good ability to work in a team, and find it easy to work independently. For us, it is valuable if you have commitment, good service sense, and the ability to take responsibility. As we are keen to find the right person for the position, we place great importance on personal suitability.
