Responsibilities

As a senior fullstack developer at KTH, you will work on developing, further developing, and managing web-based IT services with responsibility for both frontend and backend. You will participate in the entire system lifecycle, from breaking down business requirements and technical design to implementation, testing, deployment, and long-term management.

The role involves:

• Working with modern web technologies such as Node.js, React, and TypeScript and contributing to developing robust, scalable, and sustainable solutions.
• Developing and further developing solutions based on message-driven architecture, integrations, and document databases.
• Actively participating in architectural decisions and helping to shape and further develop technical guidelines, coding standards, and best practices.
• Taking clear technical responsibility within the team by supporting colleagues, ensuring quality solutions, and providing technical guidance.

In the long run, there is an opportunity to take on a more explicit leading technical responsibility, in close collaboration with UX, architects, and business within the framework of agile working methods.

About the Department/Group

The mission of the operational support is to support the university's education and research. KTH's operational support is in an exciting phase where we are collectively working on developing our working methods. As an employee within operational support, you contribute to KTH's mission to research, educate, and create societal benefit while also having the opportunity for your own professional development.

With around 150 employees organized across four specialized units, our IT department offers a supportive and enriching environment where you can thrive both professionally and personally. You will belong to the system development unit, which currently has about 60 employees in roles such as system developers, team leaders, UX designers, service designers, and IT specialists.

The Team

You will be part of a cross-functional development team with five other system developers, where collaboration, quality, and long-term focus are paramount.

Qualifications

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in system development (fullstack web) across all lifecycle phases: creation, maintenance, and decommissioning in the last 5 years.
• At least 3 years of work experience in programming with Node.js, React, and TypeScript.
• Experience as a tech lead/mentor or equivalent role in the last 3 years.
• Experience in translating/breaking down business requirements into system design/process.
• Experience in message-driven development in the last 5 years.
• Excellent ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English.

As a person, you are self-driven and take clear responsibility for both your own work and the overall team deliverables. You have excellent collaboration skills and contribute through experience, judgment, and a solution-oriented approach. You are service-oriented with a good understanding of the business needs and consistently work with quality awareness to ensure long-term sustainable solutions.

Meritorious

• Experience with document databases, such as MongoDB, CosmosDB.
• Experience in development or management in the education domain at colleges or universities.
• Experience in data-driven development.
• Experience with TDD.
• 2 years of experience in at least one other programming language.
