Kooperativet Hand i Hand is a member-driven organization established in 1995 for individuals entitled to assistance. Our members are located in Skåne, Halland, southern Småland, Västra Götaland, Stockholm, and Jämtland. We have offices in Halmstad, Hässleholm, and Malmö. We support our members with everything from applying for hours with Försäkringskassan/municipality to personnel issues concerning personal assistants. We believe that the work of a personal assistant is one of the most important jobs there is, as it provides an opportunity for another person to live their life like everyone else.

Are you ready for one of the most fun jobs in the world?

I am a cheerful and determined 9-year-old girl, currently looking for a new assistant to join my team. I am in 3rd grade at a special needs school. I enjoy playing pranks, role-playing, playing with Barbie, playing Roblox, creating my own slime, making YouTube videos (not published), putting on makeup, singing, and dancing. Sometimes I go for walks with my dog, so it’s good if you’re not allergic to dogs. Another thing I love to do in the summer is swimming, in both cold and warm water; I’m not a wimp like my dad.

I was born with spinal muscular atrophy, a condition that means I have weak muscles and slightly poorer motor skills throughout my body, which is why I use my electric wheelchair outdoors and a manual wheelchair indoors. I also received my epilepsy diagnosis last year, but I don’t notice it much. I need someone who can be my arms and legs sometimes, but otherwise, I’m just like any other lively 9-year-old. I prefer to speak for myself unless I get too shy.

The person I’m looking for should be a cheerful character who can match my liveliness but also takes their work seriously. As my assistant, you will be in my constant vicinity to step in when I need help/support, but it’s also important that you have the ability to be “invisible” when I’m talking to my friends. I don’t want you to be my extra parent or teacher; I want you to be my sidekick who stands by my side through thick and thin.

It’s important for me that you speak fluent Swedish so we can understand each other. Since lifting is involved, I would like you to be strong and able to move me short distances. You need to be smoke-free as I don’t like the smell and have a very good sense of smell. I also have a dog at home, so it’s good if you’re not allergic to pets.

It’s a plus if you have a driver’s license and can drive, but it’s not a requirement. Sometimes my family and I go to the countryside, and it would be fun if you could join me, either staying overnight or it’s quite quick to take the train for a day trip.

With me, we try to help each other out, so if an assistant is sick, we try to cover for each other so I can get to school or do something else that is planned. No previous experience is required, just common sense and an understanding of the work of a personal assistant. If you enjoy playing with me and getting into the play, we will probably get along well.

Position: 75% varied hours, daytime, afternoons, and every other weekend. When you work daytime, you will be with me at school, and during afternoons/weekends, you will be with me at home or accompany me on my various activities.
