Production Leader at Norrtälje Prison

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transportation.

Norrtälje Prison is a closed prison of the highest security class with approximately 250 inmates. The operations are run, led, and developed by around 230 employees and 15 managers. The largest professional group is prison officers, but there are also healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, and several other functions. The inmates participate in education, various treatment programs, or work in the prison's woodworking industry and mechanical workshop.

The prison is located in a nature-friendly area close to green spaces, contributing to a pleasant and sustainable work environment. Employees have access to a gym and sauna, as well as a highly appreciated staff cafeteria that creates good conditions for community and recovery. The prison has good communication links and is easy to reach by public transport. For those who drive, there is free parking available in our staff parking lot.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a production leader for the operations at Norrtälje Prison. The production has three main workshop areas: house building, mechanical industry, woodworking, as well as some assembly and packaging. As a production leader, you will plan and lead the operations together with the responsible prison inspector and colleagues.

The purpose of the operations is to provide clients with employment during their time in prison, as well as to give them practical experience. You will work closely with clients, and your work includes structured efforts to help clients and the operations achieve set goals. You will also work in our production system, as well as with preventive maintenance and service. It is important for us that you maintain order and cleanliness in your work and uphold good order in the shared workplace. Your tasks will also include daily routine tasks such as searches and other security-related duties. You will have varied tasks and will not be stationed at a specific production, but will have a more mobile role.

Having a job is an important part of preparing for a functioning life after serving a sentence. As a production leader, you are a key person in this work; you motivate the inmates and contribute to creating structure, responsibility, and development in their daily lives.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and self-aware. You find it easy to collaborate with others and are a team player, and you have well-founded and clear values. In stressful situations, you remain calm, stable, and controlled. You have the ability to make correct assessments and priorities. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages based on the recipient's conditions. You should also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires it. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in the potential for human development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
• Good computer skills

It is an advantage if you have:

• Post-secondary education in manufacturing industry, carpentry, sheet metal, CNC, assembly, welding, security work, etc.
• Work experience as a production leader/supervisor
• Good knowledge and handling of industrial machines
• Work experience from corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and care work
• Relevant language skills
• Forklift license
