About the Workplace

The food service is part of the service sector in Ale Municipality.

The service sector is tasked with providing quality service to Ale Municipality's core operations in a professional and resource-efficient manner. The goal of the food service is to prepare and serve well-composed, nutritious, environmentally friendly, economical, and safe meals.

In the food service, we see meals as an important part of the day. Through our work, we ensure that the municipality's special accommodations, schools, and preschools enjoy good and nutritious food. In Ale, we work with ecological, economic, and social sustainability. The food service consists of about 90 employees and approximately 40 kitchens.

Job Responsibilities

As a substitute cook, your main task will be to cover for regular employees during their absence. This may mean that one day you independently manage a preschool kitchen and the next day you are part of a kitchen team in a larger kitchen. The work involves preparing and serving nutritious and delicious food in our kitchens in preschools, lunches, and special accommodations, with a service-oriented approach. Orders, planning, dishwashing, cleaning, self-control, and more are included in the daily work.

The number of guests can vary from 40 to 800 depending on the size of the school/preschool/accommodation. The kitchens are located from Alvhem in the north to Surte in the south.

Qualifications

Do you have good collaboration skills, are service-oriented, flexible, and passionate about well-composed, nutritious, safe, and environmentally friendly meals that are prepared and served with pride, care, and joy? Then you are the one we are looking for!

You have a high school education in the restaurant and food program or another education that the employer deems equivalent, have worked in production kitchens, and of course, have the guests' needs in focus.

This job requires high flexibility, good collaboration, and a willingness to be in different locations daily. You are solution-oriented and see opportunities in being in different kitchens. A good attitude towards guests and colleagues is important for several reasons, which is why we are looking for someone who is very service-oriented. You can independently prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks in a new kitchen.

You are an experienced cook with good knowledge of special diets and a great interest in cooking. You can also handle daily cleaning and self-control. HACCP is not new to you. We want you to have basic computer skills and be proficient in Swedish, both spoken and written.

Since the work involves contact with children, you must be able to present a criminal record extract when offered employment.
