About Us

PAKA/PIVA is the unit commonly referred to as the psychiatric emergency service.

This facility consists of an acute psychiatric reception, an acute psychiatric ward (PAKA), and a psychiatric intensive care unit (PIVA). The catchment area covers the entire Blekinge County. The mission includes all citizens in the county who need acute psychiatric health care. We are open around the clock. We are located in Karlskrona. PAKA has six beds and PIVA has four. The staff rotates daily across all three parts of the operation. At PAKA/PIVA, we have about 40 colleagues working on a rotational basis.

The Job

For the summer of 2025, the psychiatry department in eastern Blekinge is seeking temporary caregivers. The tasks primarily consist of psychiatric nursing work, contact with relatives, and collaboration with care neighbors. You will receive a 2-week introduction before starting your temporary position. The duration of the temporary position is variable but can extend over two months.

The tasks are very varied and involve standard psychiatric nursing and ward work. Following patients through the acute psychiatric units and representing patients in their various situations and contacts is the focus of the tasks. The team consists of doctors, nurses, and caregivers. We also have occupational therapists and social workers available as needed.

We offer you a solid introduction, and during this introduction, you will receive the fundamental knowledge you need from various professions to perform well in your role as a caregiver. All staff will undergo an intensive self-protection course (in cases of threats and violence). This will be conducted by the department's instructors. Fire and CPR training will also be offered.

Temporary positions at PIVA/PAKA are a great starting point for building a career in psychiatry.

About You

We are looking for someone who

• has an 80-point YH caregiver education in psychiatry or equivalent.
• has an education or is currently studying with a focus on care and nursing
• is a nursing student
• is a medical student
• has other qualifications equivalent to any of the above educational levels

We seek someone with the ability to work independently while also being a team player. You should have good self-awareness, be meticulous and secure, and have a reflective approach. We place great importance on personal suitability.

Other

Applicants who are considered for employment must present a certificate from the Police Authority's criminal record before employment.
