The Lung and Allergy Clinic is a day care unit that operates Monday to Friday. We are part of the specialized medicine area 2 and provide specialized care in pulmonary medicine and adult allergology.

Common diagnoses include lung cancer, obstructive lung diseases, various forms of lung parenchymal diseases, and respiratory insufficiency. In terms of allergic diseases, we care for both respiratory allergies and asthma, as well as food and drug allergies and allergies to bees and wasps. The clinic is responsible for bronchoscopy activities in northwestern Skåne with advanced diagnostics and endobronchial ultrasound.

The clinic currently has 20 employees, including nurses, nursing assistants, medical secretaries, and doctors, as well as an occupational therapist, physiotherapist, dietitian, and social worker associated with the operation. The engagement among us is high, and as a nurse, you play an important role in the clinic.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a nurse who wants to learn the different parts of the clinic in 2026, with the goal of being introduced after the summer and then taking on the responsibility as one of two contact nurses in our unit in 2027.

The clinic currently has two contact nurses with a focus on the oncological part of our clinic. It is a varied and independent job in close collaboration with our doctors. You will have your own clinic but also meet patients together with doctors. Patients and their relatives will primarily turn to you regarding follow-ups, information, advice, and support. We also have a close collaboration with the oncology treatment unit responsible for chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

In the role of contact nurse, you will be scheduled within the bronchoscopy activities. You will certainly have the opportunity to be involved and influence how we will work in the future. Through joint clinic meetings, we work together to maintain and further develop the holistic perspective among us.

All nurses are expected to learn and master the tasks available at a lung and allergy clinic, such as spirometry, skin prick tests, care of pleural drains, preparation for and aftercare following various procedures, and assisting in pulmonary medical procedures. Our nurses have a high level of knowledge, are experienced, and feel secure in their role. All nurses have functions where they are responsible for smoking cessation clinics, asthma-COPD clinics, subcutaneous and sublingual immunotherapy, provocations, and follow-ups of medication treatments, as well as being responsible for equipment and administration of medical gas (oxygen therapy) at home. Of course, you will receive individually tailored training when you start with us.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare and have experience in clinical work as a nurse. Language skills in Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale are required. Specialist training in medical care and/or oncology and experience as a contact nurse are meritorious for the position.

You who apply have an interest in oncology and are meticulous and structured, used to working independently but also have an easy time collaborating. You enjoy contributing your previous experiences, and like us, you understand the importance of maintaining and contributing to a continued good work environment. You will meet seriously ill individuals at various stages of their illness, which will require you to be secure in yourself and in your role as a nurse. We are a relatively small unit, and flexibility is therefore an important quality for all of us. It is important that you have a holistic perspective with an interest in the clinic.
