Nurse for Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and Psychiatric Emergency Department in Varberg
Do you want the opportunity to combine work in the emergency department and the acute ward? Are you a nurse interested in psychiatry and want to work in an organization where you can use your full competence? Do you want to work with colleagues who have good cohesion and make you feel comfortable? If this sounds right for you, we are currently looking for a nurse for the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and the Psychiatric Emergency Department in Varberg!
Job Responsibilities
Working as a nurse with us is fun, varied, and challenging.
Psychiatric and somatic care, conversations, medication management, and leadership are examples of tasks that you will learn to master with us. This is a role for you who want to further develop as a nurse and as a person. At PIVA, there is a unique opportunity to work on the ward one day and the next day work in a psychiatric emergency department. At the Psychiatric Emergency Department (PAM), you will make the initial assessment (triage) of patients seeking care with us, or who arrive by ambulance or police. As a nurse at PAM, you will also perform digital triages in collaboration with the ambulance service.
About Us
Piva is part of the adult psychiatric inpatient care in Varberg. At Piva, we have nine beds for acute psychiatric care, usually with short lengths of stay. Next door is our psychiatric emergency department (PAM).
“To assess and treat acute psychiatric conditions in a safe and secure manner, using person-centered care and a good approach”
This is Piva's overarching goal that we have formulated together in the workgroup. We constantly strive towards this goal and actively work on development projects, including with Safewards, which are evidence-based interventions aimed at promoting social community, how staff communicate with and about patients, and how staff support patients in difficult emotions and situations.
We collaborate extensively with other departments in the inpatient care in Varberg, as well as with the ambulance service, police, social services, and other healthcare partners.
At Piva, most employees work in rotating shifts day/evening/night, with a reduced working time of 34 hours per week. We are flexible, and it is also possible to work day/evening, as well as part-time if desired.
We believe it is important to have an open climate at the workplace, and we have reflection time at the end of each shift, and offer nursing supervision in groups with both nurses and caregivers.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse, whether you are new to the profession or have experience.
Specialist training in psychiatry and/or previous experience working as a nurse in psychiatric inpatient care or other acute care is advantageous but not a requirement.
You are a person with a passion for your profession. You adapt your way of working and communicating according to the situation and each patient's individual needs. Since we work in a multidisciplinary team, it is of great importance that you have a developed ability to collaborate in and also lead teams. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Warm welcome to your application!
Selection and interviews are ongoing during the application period, which means that you may be called for an interview before the application deadline.

Our Offer
We believe that a secure start is crucial for you to feel comfortable with us. Therefore, you will receive a longer introduction tailored to you. Depending on previous experiences, you usually start by working in PIVA (the ward) and then get introduced to PAM (the emergency department).
As a newly hired nurse with us, you will also be offered your own mentor and nursing supervision in groups with other newly hired staff. The goal of the supervision is to strengthen and develop your professional role through increased self-awareness.
As an employee, you will also be offered several training sessions, where self-protection training, CPR, fire safety, and suicide prevention training are mandatory. Region Halland offers paid further education in psychiatry for our basic trained nurses. It is important that you find a balance between work and leisure, which is why we always offer a full-time position but with the possibility to work less.
