Temporary Team Leader for Järvavärdarna

Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Do you enjoy creating change and seeing people develop? Do you also have a strong interest in sustainability and green transition? Now that we are transitioning to in-house management of green spaces in our district, we are looking for someone who wants to be part of the journey as a team leader for Järvavärdarna.

We see that social sustainability goes hand in hand with the green transition.

Welcome to us

In the Järva district administration, we have developed a completely new operation with Järvavärdar, which is a labor market initiative for those who are far from the labor market. The Järvavärdarna, together with team leaders, work with waste management, maintenance of parks and natural areas, and have their own urban gardening. They also play an important role in the administration's communication about how we create a pleasant and well-maintained urban environment in the district. During the period of the labor market initiative, the Järvavärdarna undergo a vocational adult education (VUX) in park and green space maintenance that gives them high school credits and increased competitiveness in the labor market.

The administration is also facing an exciting transformation journey where we have started to take over the management of waste and maintenance of parks and natural areas in municipal management. The goal is to develop a circular and sustainable operation with climate-smart working methods. The Järvavärdarna will work together with the operations for the management of parks and green areas and belong to the urban environment unit.

The Järva district consists of the neighborhoods of Akalla, Husby, Kista, Rinkeby, Tensta, Hjulsta, Bromsten, Flysta, Lunda, Sundby, and Solhem, where around 99,000 residents live.

The Järva district administration is an important part of Stockholm City’s initiative Focus Järva, which provides good conditions to continue promoting and developing safety, well-being, and strengthening social values in the district. Read more at Focus Järva

We are now looking for a temporary team leader for Järvavärdarna, for employment for about one year.

Welcome with your application!

We offer

For us, it is important to have fun at work! You will become part of an engaged team that works at the forefront of green transition and sustainability.

You will be offered good employment benefits such as professional development, wellness grants, good flexible working conditions, and vacation exchange. Please read more about our benefits and working in Stockholm City here.

Your role

As a team leader, you will plan and follow up on the practical work. You will lead and distribute the work among the participants working as Järvavärdar, meet the participants based on their abilities and conditions, and motivate them in their development. The Järvavärdarna will then have the opportunity to develop both in park work and their language skills. You will also work with waste management and green space maintenance to teach the profession and work with urban gardening together with others in the group.

You will work closely with the other team leaders, coordinators, and park workers in the operations.

Your work will currently be based at Arrendevägen in Spånga or at Husby gård in Husby, but you will also work with the group in the public environments of the district. Since a large part of the work is outdoors, it is important that you enjoy working outside regardless of the weather.

Your qualifications and experience

We are now looking for you who have:

  • Post-secondary education such as vocational training as a park caretaker, green space caretaker, or gardener, or other education that the employer deems appropriate.
  • Documented experience of practical work with green space maintenance in outdoor environments.
  • Documented experience of leading and mentoring adults in practical work tasks, both individually and in groups.
  • Driver's license for passenger car.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Worked with people who are far from and learning about the labor market and working life.
  • Experience working with and pedagogically leading individuals learning Swedish.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of neuropsychiatric disabilities.
  • Knowledge of and interest in working climate-consciously and circularly with green issues.

We are looking for someone who can lead in a pedagogical, motivating, and creative way. You have a good understanding of people's differences and needs and an ability to meet people where they are. You work independently and structured and drive the work forward in an inclusive way. Since you have many points of contact and work with a target group that may have significant needs, you need to have very good endurance, collaboration skills, and be clear in your communication.

We place great importance on personal qualities, motivation, and commitment to the position!

Your application

If you have any questions regarding the position or your application, you are warmly welcome to contact the recruiting manager.

In this recruitment process, you do not need to attach a cover letter; however, we would like you to answer the questions you will encounter when submitting your application. Your answers to the questions will form the basis for the first selection. We hope that you answer concretely and briefly to the questions and that there is a clear connection between your answers and your CV. Stockholm City works with competence-based recruitment aimed at considering each person's competence and thus counteracting discrimination.
