Oncology Department is Hiring New Staff!

Are you motivated by change and development? Do you want to help those who need it most and ensure that our residents have a healthier, safer, and richer life? Then the Oncology Department is the workplace for you.

The Oncology Clinic and Radiation Physics is a county-wide base unit operating in both Kalmar and Västervik. Oncology is a rapidly growing specialty thanks to the continuous introduction of new treatment options for our patients. This allows us to cure more patients, and those with incurable diseases live longer. Working in oncology involves a varied job with medical treatment, radiation therapy, ward work, outpatient work, and not least, multidisciplinary work, for example, through our multidisciplinary conferences. Overall, this makes oncology a very exciting, challenging, and stimulating specialty.

We need new staff for our ongoing development. In addition to the general development within oncology, there are plans for an expansion and development of the operations. A new building is expected to be completed by 2026 to meet the increased need/development of radiation therapy and medical oncology.

The position is a temporary contract for about 6 months with good opportunities for extension. Interviews and selection will be conducted continuously, and the position may be filled before the final application date.

About You

We are looking for someone with a medical degree or medical license who wants to work and develop within oncology. You find it important to meet people in a good way, you are clear in your communication, and you easily collaborate with others and build trust.

Your Future Workplace

In Kalmar, we have an oncology day care unit with 22 beds, an oncology outpatient clinic, a radiation therapy department with two linear accelerators, and a dose planning CT. We have five beds in a surgical department for round-the-clock care that we are responsible for during the day on weekdays. In Västervik, we have an oncology day care unit with about six beds. We participate in about twelve multidisciplinary conferences per week (local, county-wide, regional, and national). The work is during the day, meaning no on-call duty. We have fifteen specialist doctors/consultants and nine resident doctors working at the clinic. Additionally, there are nurses (many specialized oncology nurses), medical secretaries, and radiation physicists, and we are a total of about 90 staff members.
